PermalinkBattlefield Bad Company: Opinions Needed
Hey all, I recently noticed that Battlefield: Bad Company, an 11 year old game is still available to purchase on Xbox Live and I have a long a sordid history with attempting to finish it.

I'd like your opinion.

I began playing this game in June 2008 and resolved to complete it. Everything looked good, I had an Xbox 360 Elite and nothing but time on my hands. Unfortunately disaster struck on January 1 2009 with the dreaded Red Ring. I didn't have cash to go out and buy another $400 360 but I did have a PS3 so I wound up nearly getting a platinum on the Playstation.

Fast forward to today.

Now I'm back on Xbox One with my preferred gamertag of Vindibudd so I have a dilemma.

Do I try to complete this game at long last on my old gamertag or do I say screw it and do it with my current and main gamertag? Maybe you would complete it on both gamertags? Or do I just say, hey it was done on PSN, and call it a day?

Old gamertag with BF:BC stats:
V1NDIBUDD 791 (420)
First played on 24 Jun 08
23 achievements out of 50 won

PermalinkTrophy Streak at 12 Days, advice
I decided to break my personal best 31 day trophy streak and to do so I have implemented a few strategies to make it easier. Maybe these will help you, maybe not!

1. Lay the ground work for your next achievements the day before you are planning to achieve them.

I find the best time to do this is at the end of the day so that as soon as the clock strikes 12:01 am I can jump into a game and pop the achievement right there. This greatly reduces the stress involved. No panicking about how to do something at 11:45 pm. Last night I was really worried about the latest achievement I was going for in Forza 7, No Substitute, thinking that I hadn't popped an achievement for 7/16 but in fact, I'd already done so at 12:27 AM so it turned out alright. Unfortunately, I was wasting time on the Xbox rather than God of War on the PS4 so my 4 day trophy streak was broken there, but lesson learned.

2. Research achievements the day before you line them up.

It's much easier to determine what's manageable ahead of time so you aren't scrambling looking for something, anything that you can do quickly.

3. Have a big game on standby while you work on more labor intensive achievements.

In my case I have Halo: MCC which has an achievement for just about everything. Right now I am lining up finding skulls in remastered mode while I also try to complete Forza 7.

4. Have you completed all your games? Alexander wept for there where no more worlds to conquer!

Look into the free games available on Xbox Live. This site has a list of free games that are available right here in the top right side bar:

That's all for today, thanks for reading!

PermalinkTrophy Case Tour
Hey all, I thought I would take a moment to give a little tour of my Trophy Case. I see that you can't leave notes on them or on the Trophy Case itself so I thought I'd throw in a bit of my reasoning for adding them here! I'll update this blog as I add notable achievements to the case. Thanks for reading!

Game: Halo: The Master Chief Collection
Achievement: A Day To Remember
Description: Halo CE: Play Halo: CE on the 15th of any month.
Note: This is my very first achievement under my preferred gamertag of Vindibudd. Vindibudd was my original Xbox Live gamertag when I had the original Xbox but was unavailable when I got around to picking up an Xbox 360 4 years later. On the 360 I went by V1NDIBUDD which you can find on this site as well. So this Halo achievement kicked off a new era for me and so it will always hold great sentimental value.

Game: Call of Duty: Black Ops 4
Achievement: My First Win
Description: Win Blackout
Note: This was the hardest achievement for me by far on Xbox One. I played something like 340 rounds before I finally won a Blackout round and this one happened on Quads. I doubt seriously that I will ever finish BO4 but at least I won a round of Blackout.

Game: Call of Duty: Black Ops 4
Achievement: Not A Fluke
Description: Win 10 Blackout games
Note:This is the same as above except that this happened with the new mode of War. So it was inversely easy to get it. I think these two achievements bookend each other well.

Game: Star Wars Battlefront
Achievement: Never tell me the odds!
Description: Successfully perform Cooling Flush 10 times (Multiplayer)
My hundredth achievement! As an aside, my brother JediLionGuard is a savant at this game.

Game: Brothers - A Tale of Two Sons
Achievement: Whale Song
Description: You practised singing.
This achievement marked the first completed Xbox game and I found the game because of this site pointing it out!
