Happy Saturday Evening one and all!
So, this week I noticed that the GTASC competition was cranked up a notch as 80+ teams worked on balancing getting enough achievements to keep themselves out of the two elimination spots while working on higher ratio achievements so that the team's collective ratio would end up above 2.0. Of course, this was hampered by some BIG game that came out this week - achievement ratio or Shepard??? My team teetered between the "let's go for it" to "hey, I'm going to play my game" tug-a-war. I figured I would try to finish up Two Worlds since I could get a higher ratio and some big TA points.
I felt kind of bad for my teammates since I really believed that I would only need a few hours to pop the last achievement. Each evening, I noticed my TA score slipping and my negative amount growing - not a place that I'm usually in during the week. It made me anxious and impatient...Well, several evenings later (last night) as I was hitting my wall of lost patience for the elusive achievement, Rotor came on to help out and give me a few minutes reprieve as he explored some of the remaining slivers of dark, unexplored areas on the map. After about an hour, Rotor checked his character's map while I with my iPhone took pictures of his completed map so we could find the last seven teleports, since that was what I had left.
Well, as he got back to my character's map, we compared and saw that in the upper left hand corner (of course!), an additional symbol on his map wasn't on mine. Off he teleported with my character and headed a short distance north. As my character traversed the hills, I could just make out the top of the ankh through a densely forested patch and pointed it out to Rotor. As he neared - bleep - up came the achievement! How happy I was! That was another achievement a long time in coming and another game completed. I will definitely need to update my trophy case now!
We gave the original EDF a shot for a couple of hours last night as well. I have been TWO!!!! weapons short of the final achievement several months. We boosted level 30 on inferno where one of the weapons should have dropped - nope! So, we went back to playing the second to the last level on inferno and OMG -- we found one of the missing weapons, leaving one to go. We played several more times, each feeling that maybe we would get lucky but it wasn't to be. I have all the other achievements and it really, well, pisses me off that my 1,000 is dependent on a random achievement. I'm much more tolerant of achievements based on skill, but this sucks! I've been boosting it for several months off and on - even managed to not nerd rage at the unfairness of the situation - but I'm so ready to be done on this one too!
So, feeling a need to put a few more achievement points on the board before the deadline tonight, I woke up early this morning and got on to play EDF Insects and was sure glad to see my buddy Shotgunbilly555 on. Since I was half way to level 8 with my Trooper and Shotgun had a system down for earning money and me about 10K in experience each round, within a few hours of boosting, the level 8 achievement unlocked - to which, like any good gamer girl
, I went on a spending spree and bought up all the weapons I could for the Trooper. I probably need about another 300K to finish my shopping, but I'm well on my way to another achievement. I like achievements
And, after a nice stretch outside this afternoon - a little scrapbook shopping for me and some walking for Rotor - we jumped onto EDF so I could boost my wasp kills on Chapter 3, Mushrooms level. It didn't take too long to get 100 wasp kills and so, for the week, I managed 105 GS score, but my ratio was 2.81 so my TA score was 295. Not one of my better weeks, but as a team, we will earn the ratio bonus - our first bonus! Yay team!
What's on tap next week? I think EDF Insects and although I started it early on in xbox 360 ownership (read: so my skills like majorly sucked and I didn't get far), I want to revisit it and see if I can do better the second time around....okay, and so like I get to hear Vin's voice - a plus I'll take
Might even set up a boosting session for some of the online multiplayer achievements.
See you on the box
Nite, nite...
