The Aftermath Of The 7 Day Survivor!!Permalink
Well, at the time of me posting this. I felt, yesterday was a long day. As the day drew into the night, I thought it was going to be a looonnggg night. Eventually, it happened, and this achievement finally popped for me...

Dead Rising (Xbox 360)7 Day SurvivorThe 7 Day Survivor achievement in Dead Rising (Xbox 360) worth 114 pointsTYPE: 1 PlayREQ: Survive for at least 7 days.

So... how did I feel, when I unlocked it? Well, they say this achievement is like a jar of marmite. You're gonna love it, or hate it. But, when my achievement popped, the reaction I did when I unlocked it, was exactly the same, as the video, which I've posted below. shock
I couldn't help myself, but just to constantly stick 2 middle fingers at the game screen and keep saying the "F" word for about 2-3 minutes!! laugh

OK, so if you're new to the Dead Rising series, what do you do to get this achievement? Well to get it, you will need to first unlock Infinity Mode by playing the 72 Hour Game Mode, and then once unlocked, you will need to play Infinity Mode, and survive for a total of 7 days game time, which is 14 hours in real life. The worst parts about it, is you cannot save your progress, which means it has to be done in one sitting. And each time you pause, the game will stop the time, which means it will then be longer than 14 hours! angry
Also, you have a health bar which contains 12 Boxes and after 1.4 minutes of game time, one drains, which means if you leave Frank (your character), alone, he will die within 20 minutes of real time, unless you feed him. This is the most annoying part of the game mode! angryangry

So... the question everyone's asking around, is how long, difficult, and annoying is this achievement? (There's probably more questions that could be asked, but those 3 are the main ones).

Well as I said before, it requires 14 hours, but it depends upon how many times you have to pause the game. It will most likely happen, because you'll probably get unexpected issues during the 14 hours. My examples were cooking dinner (my turn), and taking a s**t! roll

I started the game at 9:45am, but I didn't pop the achievement until about 0:55am the next morning. There's a good example.

Difficult? No, not really. As you play 72 Hour mode, you will reach Level 50, which will give you the best fighting moves, and abilities. Plus, with the Real Mega Buster, you'll be able to easily defeat enemies and psycho's with no issues. smile
The catch is though, that this game mode limits the amount of food you can find to feed Frank. Unlike the 72 Hour mode, once you've grabbed food, which is lying about in the game, it won't re-spawn. And the Seon Food and Store is permanently closed in this game. Making it more challenging. On the other hand, you have books which can restore 3x the amount of standard health, and Psycho's which drop food, if you kill them! warning

Annoying? Yep. Not the game itself, but the fact that you have to keep coming back every 15-17 minutes to feed Frank, and move him to a secure location, with enough food, which will last him awhile.

So... Here's my story, on how I kind of done it.

I woke up yesterday at about 9am, and for a Saturday, that was kind of unusual because since I've been boosting Call Of Duty 5: World At War, and going to bed late, it's also making me get up late!
I sat their in my chair and thought "Should I do Dead Rising?". I thought, "F**k it, let's do it". Switched on the XBox 360, and put in the Dead Rising disk. Unaware of me being a idiot, I erased the game installed to the hard-drive earlier in the year. I felt like I was a twat!! laugh

So, then I installed the game to the hard-drive, but because the game is about 6GB, I had to wait for a bit. By the time I was changed, got my printed guide, my Game Boy Advance and Nintendo DS ready, the game was installed, and I was ready to begin. It was 9:45am.

Following the guide, it recommended me to fetch the 3 Health Books. Searched around, that was fine. Wish I had the Skateboard, but remembering the controls was the part I needed to learn more first, since I last played the game a year ago. roll

Don't you find it annoying, when you've played a game, then after a year, you forget the bloody controls? laugh It's like Halo 3 & Halo: Reach. Halo 3 is RB to Reload, and then Halo: Reach is X?! Eh?, well I've only played the demo of Halo: Reach at the time of me posting this.

Back to Dead Rising, next I decided to go to the Food Court. I remembered that Wine, filled most of your health bars in the game, so I grabbed about 3-4 bottles and dashed to Carlito's Hideout. Stood their for about 1hr 40m with the Wine. And whilst that was happening.... I was sorting out my clothes in my cupboard, plus having a Nutri Grain as a quick breakfast. I so wanted some Flavored Yogurt and Granola for breakfast, but it was around 11:30am, and I dislike having loads for breakfast at that time of the day! redface

By the time the wine was downed, and I had clothes all over the bed. I went back to the Food Court for more Wine. "Oh Crap!! The wine didn't re-spawn. Guess I'll have to get something else!" I knew that Orange Juice was another good item to restore health, so I went to Paradise Plaza and got some. Then I back-tracked to the hideout and waited their for about 1-2 hours. Sort out clothes again!

After that, I read the guide, and it said that their's about 3-4 Cartons of Milk in the Tunnels. I thought, well, I'll take the risk, and explored the tunnels. Carlito was in his Truck trying to run me over, but since I was Level 50, he was no match. Went into the Meat Processing Area and grabbed the Milk Cartons their, and then went into the Warehouse and stood their for about 2 hours. It was then lunch-time, and during lunch, I had a stopwatch to tell me when to return upstairs and feed Frank. It rang twice during lunch, and my mum then asked "You feeding something up their?" I said... "Err... Yes!" (Nobody knows about achievements in the house apart from me, and another family relative).

OK, it was afternoon my time, and I then checked the guide, and discovered that the Alfresca Plaza had some Orange Juice's. So I went straight their, and must have grabbed 3 Orange Juices and 2 Cartons of Milk. I went into the gym in that area, because the Zombies can't attack you from their. I must have stood their for about 2hr 30m just feeding Frank Milk and Orange Juice. shock
I finished tidying up my clothes by the time I got here, so during this period of time I explained to the family what I was doing, and they all said "That must drive you crazy?". I said... "Definitely", and then I pulled out my Nintendo DS, erased my saved data and started a new game on New Super Mario Bros. Great game that is!! clap

Now it was around 5pm, and it was a sunny day, and usually in the weekends, I like to go for a walk to look after myself (and my body figure). But after some on and off thoughts, I I'd skip it, because this achievement will just take longer. I then had an idea of traveling to all the Plaza's which I've missed and grab all the food which I missed out. Whilst Food Court was nearby me, there's a glitch in which if you enter the room on Day 4, the game freezes. I started at Entrance Plaza, and then I waited in the Large Book Store which has no Zombies for about 2hr 30m. To keep myself secured, I stood on top of a bookcase.
Carlito was their at the time I was, but he was dead by the time I got to him. No food box. facepalm
By then, I finished World 2 on New Super Mario Bros, and then I decided to switch to the Game Boy Advance SP, and play Super Mario Advance: Super Mario Bros 2. I only need to find 5 Ace Coins to finish the game, as I found all 40 Yoshi Eggs.

When my food contents in the Entrance Plaza was finished, II then explored Paradise Plaza, grabbed all the food their, and then went to the Theater Area. Heather was their, so she was an advantage as she had a bit of food for me. I then explored all 5 rooms, and then I hid myself behind a stage curtain. At the same time I accidentally drank a Orange Juice at full health. facepalm
I was then delayed during the wait because it was my turn to cook dinner, so I had to pause the game and do that. Luckily, it was only a 25-30 min delay, so no biggy. I didn't leave this area until about 9pm my time, and by then I managed to find all 5 Ace Coins on Super Mario Advance, and was pleased with myself, that after 6 years of playing that game on and off, I've finally finished that game! Yay!!!

After the wait, I then only had 2 areas which I didn't search for food, so I went to the Wonderland Plaza, and grabbed all the food, and then hid myself behind a small room where you fight the Psycho Paul, and rescue the 2 girls he's kidnapped in the 72 Hour mode. Jo the Cop was in this Plaza as well, so i killed her and grabbed her vegetables, apples and an energizer.

I had limited food then, so I had to use my maths skill and judge how many bars the Apple, Energizers, and Vegetables restore. Luckily, the Energizers fill it all the way, and the Apple fills half, so I can't complain. smile
I then managed to keep myself busy again, by playing a 1998 classic. I had both Pokemon Red & Blue Versions to play, and I done about 90% on the Blue Version, but about 40% on the Red. shock Using my severely old Game Boy Color, and Game Boy Advance, I traded the good Pokemon from the Red Version to the Blue, and then I started a New Game on the Red Version. Had to keep thinking, got to choose Charmander as I traded Squirtle and Bulbasaur. roll Plus the matter of fact, I had to feed Frank regularly as well. And they say men can't multi-task?

North Plaza was the last area I missed, so I explored their, grabbed a couple items, then returned to Carlito's Hideout. I had enough for another hour, but I was short on food for the last 20 minutes since I had done about 6 Days. I had enough food for 40 Minutes, but I thought it was risky to leave Frank starve for 20 Minutes with no guarantee I'll get the achievement. At the same time, I knew that I must have grabbed all the scattered food left in the mall. What do I do?!?!

Well, thanks to the guide, I knew that they would be some Psycho's I could kill for food. Taking a Invincible Energizer spare, I then went to the Food Court to kill Ray. He was a bugger because he had a Machinegun. Took me my Energizer to kill him. Grrr...
Then I went to the Security Room and killed Sophie for some food, and then I waited around until the day time was 6 Days 19 Hours to kill Paul at the Wonderland. Damn Paul had Remote Control Exploding Cars, but at least he had enough food to keep me alive for last 20 Minutes.

Returning to the North Plaza, Isabela was on her Motorbike trying to kill me. 2 Shots, she was dead. Mmmmm... Food!!

My final resting place was Carlito's Hideout once again. Thanks to Pokemon Red, it kept me occupied whilst I was feeding Frank. I expected the achievement at about 1:15am, but it popped 20 minutes later at 0:55am! When it did, I jump up and said the same things as that guy did, when he got it at 3am!
And if you want to know where I got to on Pokemon Red, I just passed Mt Moon. My Charmander was a Charmleon, and I had a Pidgey, Ratatta, Geodude, Butterfree and Beedrill as my 6 Crew Members!

And there you have it. That's my story in getting the 7 Day Achievement.

I would like to thank the following things for helping me get this achievement...

Firstly yourself, because of you reading this smile
Secondly my family for letting me have the chance to do this
Thirdly my GBA, DS, New Super Mario Bros, Super Mario Advance and Pokemon for keeping me busy!
Fourthly my "Disconnected From XBox Live" You were a bitch!

Special Thanks to...

My TV and XBox 360 for staying on for 16 hours straight!

Lastly my Phone, for providing me a Stopwatch for 17m 30seconds each time, for me to feed Frank! facepalm

For anyone who is doing or having a go at this achievement. I wish you all the very best of luck when you do it!

Have a nice day all! wave

BETOBUSTER Very entertaining. I'm currently replaying some Pokemon games myself. Caught 2 Mews via glitch. Back on topic . . . which guide did you use? I still need to get this one, and want to make sure I'm using a good guide.
