Ravenloft : come to the dark side...Permalink
As a Castlevania fanboy, I really couldn't escape the lastest espansion for Neverwinter. After Chult and Omu, I really needed some vacation far away from jungle temples and raptors. Not to mention the hellish grindy hunts with such a low droprate and the dungeons with crazy requirements ("If you're not at least 16k, you're crap !", they said)

Ravenloft presents us the Barovia region, with a dark and gloomy atmosphere, with a taste of the Darkroot Garden sometimes. Nothing is missing here, from the desecrated cemetery to the haunted hill, crowded with legions of werewolves, spiders, treants, witches, undeads, and of course, vampires, the whole Ravenloft lore gets alive before our eyes. And of course, the dreaded Night Terror, who'll chew you up if you happen to meet him solo.

So, what does Ravenloft has to offer ? For an average player like me, it's a balm for the heart, as it is obviously one of these "catch up" expansions that call back players to the game. Even if I realize I got too many toons to handle, I'll be able to play all of them again without shame about my item level.

For a brand new player who finally starts the game, it provides a huge boost to bring a fresh level 70 toon into the endgame content without grinding.

The campaign layout remains almost the same as the previous ones, but gets more simple as hunts have been revamped to be easier, more rewarding, and at the same time pretty epic, allowing you to strenghen the target to get better loot. The monster flees to another location when hurt, and the enigmatic hints you get from the local seer is definitively a plus for the ambiance.

So there's no reason not to answer the call of Barovia and (re)join the adventure !
