Same old game, even more fun. How could anyone not love launching cows? Earthworm Jim HD is an awesome addition to any nostalgic gamer's library. Lots of us played Earthworm Jim on our Sega consoles way back when and struggled with the difficulty that was completely tolerable because of all the fart sounds and other humorous aspects of the game. Luckily, this edition grants a break with four variable difficulties: easy, normal, hard, and original, which is an exact replication of the cartridge version. Controls are still stiff and can be very irritating to try to whip onto a hook just barely in reach that requires the PERFECT jump to get. Aside from the original flaws, the game is still gold. It includes three bonus levels to add to enjoyment as well as a new multiplayer mode where four Jims must work together while competing for high score to clear each level. That aspect alone is pretty conniving, which is what Earthworm Jim has always stood for: conniving fun. I'll rate the game 4.5 out of 5 just because of the ridiculously touchy controls that make playing it even on the easiest setting a challenge. But what's the point of playing a game in the first place if it's not challenging?
