The achievements in the Kinect Sports Gems minigames are straight forward. You must reach Level 10. An achievement is earned with each level. To gain a level, you must obtain a certain amount of stars. To earn stars, you must complete challenges. The number of stars required are shown with each level below, and a list of challenges, along with tips and the stars rewarded, are shown at the base of the page. Once you have completed all three challenges in a single game, allow the game to end. Getting high scores is not necessary; completing challenges is!
Levels
Level 1:
Requires 2 stars.
Level 2:
Requires 5 (+3) stars.
Level 3:
Requires 10 (+5) stars.
Level 4:
Requires 17 (+7) stars.
Level 5:
Requires 26 (+9) stars.
Level 6:
Requires 37 (+11) stars.
Level 7:
Requires 50 (+13) stars.
Level 8:
Requires 65 (+15) stars.
Level 9:
Requires 82 (+17) stars.
Level 10:
Requires 101 (+19) stars.
Challenges
Challenges come in various forms. A maximum of three will appear at a time. Completed challenges will be replaced by new challenges after the game ends. Note that some challenges are worth more stars than others, with the more difficult challenges being worth 2 or 3 stars. Also note that some of the challenges are cumulative, and can be earned across multiple games.
The challenges are set. There is a set amount, which will reward the exact total of stars required to reach Level 10. Once you have three remaining challenges, completing one of them will not allow one more to appear.
If you enter Settings, there is an option to 'Clear Missions'. DO NOT USE THIS OPTION! It will clear your challenges and ALL of your progress, so you will have to start all over, from Level 0.
* ONE STAR CHALLENGES *
Trigger a x2 multi-ball - Hit the first ball four times in a row to trigger a multi-ball.
Hit 15 balls in one game - Avoid losing all balls, and continue playing until 15 balls have been hit.
Do an upward swing to hit a fast ball - This can be done any time. Swing your hand upwards to hit a fast ball.
Return the ball to the mascot twice - Cumulative. Only works on the first ball. Just play two separate games, returning the first ball.
Reach a score of 20 - Avoid losing all balls, keeping as many balls in play as possible. This should unlock shortly after your second multi-ball.
Keep 2 balls in play for 5 seconds - After collecting a multi-ball, keep both balls in play.
Do a downward swing to hit a slow ball - This can be done any time. Swing your hand downwards to hit a slow ball.
Return 2 balls at the same time - Requires a little bit of luck. Can be done at any time after your first multi-ball. Hit two balls at the same time. This does not need to be done with the same racquet.
Play a single game for over 30 seconds - Keep at least one ball in play for 30 seconds to avoid losing.
Hit a total of 100 balls - Cumulative. Hit 100 balls over as many games as it takes.
Return a red, then a yellow ball - This is very easy. Hit a red ball, followed by a yellow ball. This should come naturally.
Return a red and yellow ball at the same time - Requires a little bit of luck. Can be done at any time after your first multi-ball. Hit two balls at the same time. This does not need to be done with the same racquet.
Trigger a x3 multi-ball - Once you reach a x2 multi-ball, hit each ball five times in a row to trigger the next multi-ball.
Reach a score of 55 - Maintain a multi-ball and continue to hit balls. 55 Should come naturally shortly after your second multi-ball.
Cross your arms to hit a red and yellow ball at once - Requires a little bit of luck. Can be done at any time after your first multi-ball. You must hit a red ball on your left, and a yellow ball on your right, at the same time.
Pass a score of 40 while on a x2 multi-ball or higher - This is easier if you aim to not lose any balls. The higher the multi-ball, the better.
Return 30 balls in one game - This should arrive shortly after getting to x4 multi-ball, assuming you never miss a ball.
Return 2 red balls at the same time - Requires a little bit of luck. Can be done at any time after your first multi-ball. Hit two red balls at the same time. This does not need to be done with the same racquet.
Hit a total of 40 x2 multi-balls - Cumulative. Hit a total of 40 x2 multi-balls across all games. Higher multi-balls do not count.
In one game slow down 2 red balls and speed up 2 yellow balls - Swing your arm downwards to hit a slow ball, and swing your arm upwards to hit a fast ball.
Reach a score of 100 - Avoid losing all balls, keeping as many balls in play as possible to increase your score.
Hit 40 balls in one game - Maintain a high multi-ball, and avoid missing shots.
Pass a score of 60 while on a x2 multi-ball or higher - This is easier if you aim to not lose any balls. The higher the multi-ball, the better.
Hit a fast ball, then slow ball, then fast ball - Swing you arm upwards to hit a fast ball, and downwards to hit a slow ball.
** TWO STAR CHALLENGES **
Hit 4 fast balls in one game - At the start of the game, swing your hand upwards with each ball to hit fast balls.
Play for 20 seconds without dropping a ball - Simply play for 20 seconds without missing a shot. If you are struggling with this one, play slow balls to slow down the game.
Hit 7 yellow slow balls in one game - With each yellow ball, swing your arm downwards to hit a slow ball.
Trigger a x3 multi-ball without losing a ball - Hit the first 12 balls without missing a shot.
Trigger a x4 multi-ball - Once you trigger a x3 multi-ball, hit each ball five times in a row to trigger the next multi-ball.
Play for 40 seconds without dropping a ball - Simply play for 40 seconds without missing a shot. If you are struggling with this one, play slow balls to slow down the game.
Play a single game for over 60 seconds - Avoid losing all balls, ensuring one ball is in play at all times for a minimum of 60 seconds. If you are struggling with this one, play slow balls to slow down the game.
Hit a red and yellow ball at once 3 times - Cumulative. Requires a little bit of luck. Can be done at any time after your first multi-ball. Hit two balls at the same time a total of three times across all games. This does not need to be done with the same racquet.
Keep 3 balls in play for 10 seconds - Once you hit a x3 multi-ball, avoid missing any balls for a minimum of 10 seconds.
Trigger a x3 multi-ball twice in once game - Trigger a x3 multi-ball, then intentionally miss one ball. Now trigger a x3 multi-ball once more.
Hit a total of 200 balls - Cumulative. Hit 200 balls over as many games as it takes.
Hit 1 fast ball, then 2 slow balls, then 3 fast balls - Swing you arm upwards to hit a fast ball, and downwards to hit a slow ball.
Hit 30 yellow and 30 red balls in one game - This should be easy if you are aiming for the harder challenges that require longer games.
Reach a total score of 450 - Cumulative. Reach a total score of 450 points in as many games as it takes.
Return 75 balls in one game - Keep as many balls in play for as long as possible, and avoid losing all balls.
Perform a total of 40 fast balls - Cumulative. Swing you arm upwards to hit a fast ball.
*** THREE STAR CHALLENGES ***
Drop down from x3 multi-ball to x1 and keep scoring - After triggering a x3 multi-ball, intentionally miss two balls, saving the third. Make sure there is a gap between the second (missed) ball and the third (hit) ball, as the game can confuse the two and you'll go straight to x2.
Hit 10 yellow x3 multi-balls in one game - Maintain a x3 multi-ball. If you trigger a x4 multi-ball, intentionally miss one ball.
Trigger a x4 multi-ball without losing a ball - Avoid missing any balls until you reach a x4 multi-ball.
Hit a total of 50 x3 multi-balls - Cumulative. Hit a total of 50 x3 multi-balls in as many games as it takes.
Play a single game for over 80 seconds - Keep at least one ball in play for 80 seconds to avoid losing. If you are struggling with this one, play slow balls to slow down the game.
Hit alternate fast and slow balls for 4 hits - Alternate between fast and slow for 4 hits. Fast, Slow, Fast, Slow. Swing you arm upwards to hit a fast ball, and downwards to hit a slow ball. Start this with the second return ball.
Hit 15 red x3 balls in one game - Try to maintain a x3 multi-ball. If you trigger a x4 multi-ball, intentionally miss a ball.
Return 50 yellow balls in one game - Try to stay in the game as long as possible, with a high multi-ball to increase the frequency of yellow balls.
Hit 10 fast balls in one game - Swing you arm upwards to hit a fast ball.
Reach a score of 100 without dropping a ball - Do not miss a ball until you reach 100 points. This will require x4 multi-ball for several shots.
Play for 60 seconds without dropping a ball - Keep all balls in play for 60 seconds. If you are struggling with this one, play slow balls to slow down the game.
Keep 4 balls in play for 15 seconds - After triggering a x4 multi-ball, keep all 4 balls in play for 15 seconds.
Reach a score of 200 - Simply reach a score of 200. Keep a high multi-ball to make this easier.
Return 2 red, then 2 yellow, then 2 red in order - This one is almost purely luck. Maintain a x4 multi-ball, and hope that six consecutive balls hit match this pattern.
Return 20 red fast balls in one game - Swing you arm upwards to hit a fast ball with every red ball you hit.
