Gamescom 2012: Capcom Announces Remember Me

By Jonathan Barnes, 4 years ago
While Gamescom 2012 doesn't "officially" kick off until tomorrow, the press conferences have already started with Capcom kicking things off (and EA later this morning). Taking advantage of the early hour, Capcom has pulled back the curtain on Remember Me a brand new IP that appears to take the aesthetics of Blade Runner, the plot sensibilities of Total Recall, and is pretty much full of Phillip K. Dick goodness.

In a world where memories can be bought, sold, and traded, the last remnants of privacy have been swept away. In the wake of the social media explosion (Don't forget follow us on Twitter!) that occurred at the beginning of the decade, memories are now monitored, stolen, replaced, and altered by an elite society of memory hunters.

Capcom describes Remember Me with the following:

In Remember Me, players assume the role of Nilin, an elite memory hunter who is not only incredibly athletic and trained in martial arts, but also has the special ability to break into people’s minds and steal or even change their memories. When her own memory is erased, Nilin begins her journey to reclaim her identity and discover how she can change the world.
While it may take a thousand words to make a picture, Capcom will do you one better by taking you to Neo-Paris in 2084 with their announcement trailer.

Capcom has also been good enough to indulge us with reversing the word currency in the form of some screenshots.
