Women Will Take to the Ice in NHL 13

By Michelle Balsan, 6 years ago
Throughout gaming's long and storied history, sporting games that focus on major sports leagues, such as the NBA, MLB, FIFA, or NHL, have never included female players. While these leagues themselves don't typically have female players, they do have leagues in which women play. For the first time ever in one of of these major sports games, women will be part of the roster in EA's upcoming https://www.trueachievements.com/NHL-13-xbox-360.htm. To celebrate this fact, the publisher has released images of two of women's hockey's most noted athletes, USA's Angela Ruggiero and Canada's Hayley Wickenheiser, as they will appear in the game. They are both included as part of the Legends roster.

One can only hope that their inclusion means that those of us with female avatars will soon be able to don our favorite team's jersey on our Xbox representations of ourselves.

Three other names were added to Legends roster as well, and these are likely to be more familiar to fans of the NHL: Doug Gilmour, Dominik Hasek, and Jari Kurri. Hasek is interestingly decked out in his Sabres gear, though he had more success with the Red Wings. Maybe this is just a ploy to show off a classic jersey.
