LEGO Lord of the Rings Details Unearthed

By Chewie, 6 years ago
Whilst wandering through the wastes of Mordor recently, I noticed that the fiery volcano of Mount Doom had belched out some new details for Traveller's Tales' upcoming game LEGO The Lord of the Rings. After clearing off the magma and other detritus, I discovered that the game will follow the original storylines of all three books (and, in particular, the film adaptations): The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers, and The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King.

The game will also utilise the ubiquitous drop-in-drop out co-op gameplay, slapstick humour and build-and-smash action that the LEGO franchise is so well known for. Continuing the new trend set by the recent LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes, the characters will be fully voiced, rather than stay mute as in previous games. The details also hint that the land of Mordor will have an open-world feel, similar to how Gotham was rendered in Lego Batman 2: DC Super Heroes

Players will be able to wield powerful weapons and magical items, including the Light of Earendil, Elven rope, swords, bows and The One Ring iteslf, allowing you to enter the Twilight World of the Ringwraiths. You will also be able to collect, combine and forge items using the precious metal, Mithril, in the Blacksmith Shop.

There will be over 80 playable characters from the Lord of the Rings universe to discover and unlock as well as numerous enemies to battle, including Orcs, Uruk-hai, the Balrog and the Witch-king.

Amongst all these details for the game, I also found a ring made of LEGO embedded in the volcanic rock. Anyone claiming it? Actually, you know what, I think I might keep look, I took it apart and rebuilt it as a rocket. Cool!

LEGO Lord of the Rings is set to release the power of Legogard this Autumn.
