Warner Bros. Announces Midway Arcade Origins

By Michelle Balsan,
Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment revealed today that they'll be offering some counter-programming during this holiday season's big-game release calendar. While many of us will be taking to titles like Halo 4 and Assassin's Creed III, some of us may be longing for games that required less memory space to program than either of those game protagonist's fingernails do. To that end, Midway Arcade Origins, which will consist of "30 classic, genre-defining Midway titles", will be heading to store shelves in a couple months. For those of you wondering, yes it will include de-listed arcade titles Root Beer Tapper and Gauntlet, as well as classics such as Rampage, Joust, Spy Hunter, Defender, and Marble Madness.

Warner. Bros has released a trailer for the upcoming title which shows no actual gameplay, but will no doubt awake the nostalgia in you:

It goes without saying, but this will include achievements. One has to wonder whether they will retain the difficulty of the lists found in the XBLA versions of these titles, or if this will wind up an easy 1K like https://www.trueachievements.com/Sonics-UGC/achievements.htm.

Midway Arcade Origins, which is being developed by Backbone Entertainment, will be available in November for the bargain price of $29.99. No details as to a European edition have yet been released.
