The last time we reported on Battlefield: Bad Company 2 (BFBC2), EA had announced the limited edition release for all customers who preorder the game. According to EA that limited edition included:
The Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Limited Edition delivers six special customizations early to give players a day one advantage in multiplayer matches.
Four vehicle warfare unlocks will immediately enhance the Battlefield: Bad Company 2 best-in-class online vehicle warfare experience, delivering extra firepower, radar, and armor for the vehicles.
Additionally, the tracer dart attaches to any enemy vehicle and allows RPG-toting teammates to track, lock on, and destroy their adversary. Seasoned veterans of Battlefield 1943™ will be able to immediately re-acquaint themselves with two classic and highly powerful weapons, the M1A1 submachine gun and the M1911 pistol.
With those shiney new game purchases, you also receive a code to access BFBC2’s VIP Network which allows EA to distribute free DLC straight to the customer, circumventing Microsoft’s Marketplace. This is all part of EA’s new plan called “Project Ten Dollar”. Anyways, I digress – EA has finally announced the first free DLC installment for BFBC2, which comes in the way of a free map pack.
BFBC2 will come preloaded with eight maps, and this map pack will bring the total up to ten. The two downloadable maps are titled “Laguna Alt” (a Conquest specific map) and "Nelson Bay" (a Rush specific map).
DICE reminds you, the wonderful customer you are, that there will be a second free map pack released at a later date.
Start saving those pennies and searching the couch cushions, this is a game you want to purchase new. Battlefield: Bad Company 2 is hitting store shelves this coming Tuesday, March 2nd.
