For the fans of Tecmo Super Bowl
this will come as good news. Game publisher Tecmo officially announced it's plans to release a remake of the Super NES genre defining classic through XBLA this coming Spring titled Tecmo Bowl Throwback
While the game promises to be as close a remake of the original as possible, including the ability to play in the retro lo-res 2D mode, developers Southend Interactive have also added online multiplayer, leaderboards and a HD 3D mode.
The game will also feature customizable teams and rosters, although, if your expecting to play as one of your favourite NFL teams your sol
. Unlike the original, Throwback
will not sport official NFL teams or player names due to Electronic Arts exclusivity over that honour.
The ESRB has rated the game as E for everyone, with mild suggestive themes, and describes it as "a top-down arcade-style football game in which players compete against teams around the country to become 'Tecmo Bowl Champion
'". They also mention "cheerleaders wearing low-cut tops while dancing
", and, "a jumbo tron screen displaying a 2D swimsuit model with some exposed cleavage

No word on what the game will cost or a specific release date, just that it's coming to XBLA this Spring.
