On March 26th across Europe and Australia, the Batman Arkham Asylum: Game of the Year Edition will be hitting shelves for both the 360 and PC. There will be a separate achievement list, meaning that the truly diligent can have this game appear FIVE TIMES on their gamercard. What makes this Game of The Year Edition special is all in the presentation.
Even with a standard television set, unlike James Cameron's Avatar , which requires a 3D TV, the Batman Arkham Asylum: Game of the Year Edition can be viewed in 3D just by wearing a pair of 3D glasses. The 3D feature works on both standard and HDTV sets. Eidos could have an amazing achievement on their hands or a stunning failure depending on how this brand new technology functions in the hands of consumers. The technology used to generate 3D images on a non-3D TV is called TriOviv 3D and currently it only works on PAL TVs, hence the region specific release, with no current plans for a North American or Japanese release.
While the box advertises "six extra maps" this is just the Challenge Map DLC that has already been released.
