Time for a bit of real-talk, gamers. It's time for us to close the book on 2012's hot retail releases. If you take a look at the upcoming release calendar
, you'll see very little that you'll probably be interested in throwing some drachma/dollars/deutschmarks/doubloons down on. With that in mind, this week's Achievement Preview Spotlight is taking a look at some *gasp* DLC.
The "Crimson Map Pack"
for Halo 4
is set for a release next Monday on December 10th. While the achievements haven't been scanned into Xbox LIVE yet, Halo Waypoint has already pulled back the curtain
on what gamers can expect. Here are a few highlights.Size is Everything - 20gKill 20 enemies with a detached Machine Gun Turret.
If you're anything like me (and who's to say you're not) your eyes light up when you see a Spartan trolling through a big level hauling around a Turret. I like to call these guys "Brain Food", because they're primed for a few headshots from my smokin' DMR. With this achievement on the horizon, you'll get a bit of incentive for slowing down, ripping off that Turret, and trying to mow down some fodder. Bigfoot - 20gKill 20 enemies using the Mantis' stomp attack.
The Mantis has added a new wrinkle to those big team battles. While common sense is that you take your enemies out from a distance, the occasional Spartan will sneak in and try to pop you up close. This achievement is definitely going to encourage Mantis drivers to get down-and-dirty in the melee.David and Goliath - 20gBoard an enemy Mantis.
On the flip side of the previous achievement, one of my favorite pastimes is spotting that guy on a rampage (thanks to his vehicle skills), whipping out my Plasma Pistol, taking him out with the EMP, and taking him down for good. I, for one, am glad to finally be rewarded (beyond the tasty point score) for giant slaying.ODST - 30gKill a player while you're airborne from using a Man Cannon.
Death from above... enough said.
The last achievement is one that I predict will be the great white whale of this pack. Prepare for some insanity.Special Delivery - 30gKill an enemy with a melee attack when landing from a Man Cannon.
Let's get this straight, to get this achievement you're going to need to: A- Launch yourself from a Man Cannon in the exact
direction of an enemy. B- Not get killed in mid-air (which nets the killer another achievement in this pack). C- Land close enough to melee an enemy. And D- Kill them with one blow.
Yep... that one's going to be fun.
All in all the "Crimson Map Pack" is set to add three maps and eight achievements worth 250g. The pack will cost 800 MSP on its own, or can be obtained by purchasing the Halo 4 "War Games Pass"
for 2000 MSP.
