On December 21st, 2012, the world will end. At least that's what the Mayans are supposed to have predicted anyway, even if modern day Mayanist scholars state that the Mesoamerican Long Count calendar only predicts the end of an era and not the end of Earth itself. Still, this hasn't stopped many people using this as inspiration. Microsoft's Xbox LIVE Rewards scheme has deposited all pending rewards points into members' accounts so that they can be spent before the 'apocalypse', for example. I'm pretty sure that you're wondering how all of this relates to Trials Evolution
, though. Well, RedLynx has used the impending 'apocalypse' as inspiration for the second piece of DLC for the game.
In the "Riders of Doom" DLC, RedLynx has created a whole new environment - The Big Sand Lands - that was inspired by "the end of the world". This is the location for 40 new tracks set across a number of different historical (and futuristic) settings. Ten new Skill Games will drive gamers up the wall as they attempt to get those coveted platinum medals. One game will see players pitted against "an endless series of generated extreme obstacles". A new vehicle, a powerful motorbike called the Banshee, will be added to the garage. To help players create their own doom-laden tracks, the level editor will also see hundreds of new editor objects.
The "Riders of Doom" DLC is due to be released this month, although an exact date has not been revealed. The content will cost 400 MSP.
