Ghostbusters: The Video Game Server Shutdown

By Ashley Woodcock, 4 years ago
Terminal Reality released their third person shooter, Ghostbusters: The Video Game, way back in 2009. Fearless Ghostbusters 'answered calls' and dealt with ghosts in many unique and fun ways offline and online in co-op. The online side of things has come to an end as Atari have announced the closure of their servers for the retail title, with pretty much no notice! Here's the full farewell and thank you from the team behind the game:

Ghostbusters Recruits – we regret to notify you that we have shut down the Containment Unit behind the Ghostbusters Video Game servers for all platforms. Since the game launched in October 2009 we’ve had some great times busting ghosts online, but after three years we're seeing that player volume has dropped. Please note, this shutdown won’t have any effect on single player or local multiplayer play. For more great Ghostbusting action online – check out Ghostbusters Sanctum of Slime on PSN, XBLA and PC! While this may not affect single player and local multiplayer play, it will effect any small hopes of ever completing the game for the large amount of you who haven't managed it. Looking at the achievement list, besides the seven out of ten achievements that were already buggy to begin with, the ten online-required achievements for Ghostbusters: The Video Game will now be properly unobtainable.

Thank you to the community members that sent this news in.
