Standalone 250GB HDD Available for Purchase

Available from today in the US, Microsoft have confirmed that the previously Special Edition bundle-exculsive 250GB hard drive is now available as a standalone product, purchasable for $129.99 USD, and includes a Transfer Cable within the same packaging.

Despite Xbox Live Product Manager Aaron Greenberg stating only a month ago that the hard drive would remain exclusive for bundles, it seems that Microsoft has changed their mind, throwing the HDDs onto store shelves today! Well, in the US at least. No word yet on any release outside on North America, but have an unconfirmed release date down as April 16th for us Brits, with an RRP of £79.99.

I'm fairly sure we're not the sort of community that needs an explanation about why you'd want a bigger HDD or the benefits of purchasing one, but I felt the urge to quote this somewhat hilarious section from Microsoft's press release:

Want to express your personality and style on Xbox LIVE? With the added storage space of the 250GB Hard Drive, it makes it easy to download and save new Avatar clothes and props from your favorite clothing brands and games, including Roxy, Quiksilver, Adidas, tokidoki, “Halo,” “Gears of War” and more. Or, download a pet to keep your Avatar company.
Is anyone really going to buy a huge hard drive so they can buy more Avatar clothing? laugh It hardly eats up gigabytes!

Has anyone else seen the standalone 250GB hard drives in any other territories? Post below if you do see the HDD available elsewhere in the world, I'm sure there's plenty people who'd appreciate all that additional space for all their saves, installs and downloads!
