This report is for the period January 7th to January 13th 2013
Thanks to a barren release schedule and a lot of great games from the last few months still to play through, the last couple of weeks of Stats have been pretty samey and I've been quite vocal about how, well, boring the tables have been. Unfortunately, this week is not much different with only two new releases across the whole thing.
Things should start winding back up in the next couple of weeks though as retails and arcade release schedules begin to fill up again, not least by some of the delayed titles that were originally due last year.
In other news, after a short break due to lack of any work to do, my Ewok helpers the Statisticles are back and raring to go, although they were a little down in the mouth to see that this week's tables aren't too exciting. Some people have asked me 'Chewie, why use Ewoks as your Statisticles?' Well, it's a good question, as to most people they're little more than stupid teddy bears. One word: leaves. With little else going on in their tiny minds, living on the forest-filled and extraordinarily dull planet of Endor has left them with not much else to do, other than to count leaves and create elaborate tables and charts for all the foliage surrounding them. So, they're still stupid teddy bears, but they're also excellent statisticians.Games Started
20,825 TrueAchievements gamers started a total of 32,208 games between them (1,778 different games).
The first new Retail release to make it onto the charts for 2013 is Anarchy Reigns
. I say new, I mean new outside of Japan, where it was released all the way back in July. The extravagantly styled beat-em-up pulls in a little of 600 starters, which really isn't all that many, but in this quiet period it's enough to secure it a number two spot.Far Cry 3
still sits pretty at the top with just under 1,000 starters, impressive numbers considering it had been out for around six weeks at this point. Next week will see the first big name release of the year, DmC: Devil May Cry
, making its debut. Will Dante pull in enough starters to topple Vaas's reign?
The rest of the table sees all the same popular titles as the last few weeks, in pretty much the same order, with Forza Horizon
being pushed off the chart after weeks circling the bottom of the table.Top Retail Games Started
Despite over halving the number of starters from the previous week, The Walking Dead (Xbox 360)
still pulls in almost 1,000, securing the top spot for the third week and, looking at the projected upcoming release schedule, I predict a few more weeks to come.
The recent 2K Publisher Sale
proved fairly popular as the two Arcade titles on offer, Axel & Pixel
and The Misadventures of P.B. Winterbottom
land in third and fourth.
The Sales & Specials+ promotions rarely make an appearance here on Stats, but this week sees two of the 'Scratch & Match' games of the week making it onto the chart, with Pool Nation
pulling in enough starters to plonk them in seventh and ninth places.Top Arcade Games Started
The only other new release this week comes in the form of Picnic Wars (WP)
for Windows Phone; the first release for the platform since mid-December. However, being a Nokia exclusive, the numbers may be a little restricted so, with slightly over 100 starters, it still falls in behind the continuously popular (and free) AlphaJax (WP)
.Top Windows Phone Games StartedGames Completed
8,272 TrueAchievements gamers completed a total of 11,898 games between them (1,235 different games).Far Cry 3
continues to pull in around 500 completions, keeping it comfortably in the top spot. Assassin's Creed III
jumps up the table this week from seventh to second, thanks in no small part to the 'Battle Hardened' DLC pack which, like the packs from https://www.trueachievements.com/AC-Revelations/achieve....htm
, proves to be an easy completion.Top Retail Games CompletedThe Walking Dead
halves its completions this week, but with over 1,000, it's still way more than any other game on site, let alone just the Arcade.
After shooting up the table last week thanks to the recent DLC, Doritos Crash Course
retains its second place spot, although it has dropped by almost 1,000 completions, so probably won't stay up there for too much longer.
Recent deal titles, Axel & Pixel
and 3 on 3 NHL Arcade
, prove to be easy completions, with both at almost 50% of players having finished them. It's enough this week to land these 2009 releases in sixth and tenth places on the table.Top Arcade Games CompletedPac-Man Championship Edition DX (WP)
continues its reign at the top of the table in Windows Phone Games Completed, thanks to its bolstered popularity following a recent discount and the ease of its completion, but the gap between it and the other titles is getting smaller and smaller, so maybe next week will see it fall.Picnic Wars
may be a fairly popular new release, but don't expect it to turn up on here any time soon as it's nowhere near as easy to finish as most Windows Phone games. Actually, that's not entirely true, it would be a fairly easy completion if it weren't for an achievement currently tainted by that most hated of substances around these parts: unobtainium.Top Windows Phone Games CompletedAchievements Won
52,682 TrueAchievements gamers won a total of 682,895 achievements online between them (47,385 different achievements).Far Cry 3
claims yet another clean sweep in Retail Achievements Won. Two weeks ago saw early game achievements, last week saw more from around the middle of the game, whereas this week we get a selection from the end of the game, including the final story missions and those for wrapping up certain side-quests. This means that the game will more than likely start dropping off the table as so many people have now reached the end.Top Retail Achievements Won
Another clean sweep goes to The Walking Dead
. Interestingly, whereas the top eight last week came from the first episode, the top eight this week come from the final episode. This suggest that, like Far Cry 3
, enough people have reached completion that maybe it too will begin to loosen its grip on the tables. I played through the entire thing myself this week and yes, I cried like a little girl. But that's ok, for all you know I am
a little girl.Top Arcade Achievements Won
A second AlphaJax
clean sweep running in Windows Phone Achievements makes it three clean sweeps across all platforms for the third week running. Surely there should be some sort of Stats achievement for that?Top Windows Phone Achievements Won
Both the top two genres lose around 2,000,000 this week, but Shooter manages to keep its marginal edge over Action-Adventure. The other genres retain pretty much the same numbers and order as the previous week, with the only changes being Sports swapping places with Racing and Puzzle kicking Party off the bottom.Total TrueAchievements won by Genre
That's all for this week. Check out the Stats article for the whole month of December if you're interested (it should be the article either above or below this one, depending on which one was approved first). Tune in next week to see if DMC: Devil May Cry
takes the top spot away from Far Cry
and if any games can interrupt the clean sweeps in Achievements Won. Next week will also see the Stats for the entirety of 2012, so exciting times are in store.
