Each week sees the release of a new episode of Spartan Ops for Halo 4
, and today was the turn of "Episode 7: Invasion". The trailer
that appeared four days ago gave a brief idea as to what players could expect, but now we have a longer trailer for you. Watch as Dr Halsey takes control to try and get her hands on Librarian. She isn't the only problem that the Infinity faces though, as a horde of Promethean Knights invades the ship.
If the trailer isn't enough for you, take a look at this gameplay footage instead:

As well as the release of the new Spartan Ops episode, today was the day for the introduction of the new Grifball playlist. For those few who have never played Grifball before, two teams of four are armed with Gravity Hammers and Energy Swords. They face each other in a large court with a bomb sat in the centre. The bomb must be planted in the spawn of the rival team. The playlist contains several different Grifball arenas and multiple versions of Grifball.
Two more Specializations are also unlocked:
Engineer: Spartan optimization for the subversion, repair and reconstitution of a wide range of technology, including Covenant and Forerunner complex networks. The Drop Recon Armor Mod allows users to predict the location and time of an Ordnance Drop through an external suborbital monitoring system.
Stalker: Spartan optimization for target shadowing missions which require tactical invisibility despite operating at an extremely close range to the target itself. The Nemesis armor mod allows users to target and track down previous attacking enemies, highlighting them on the armor’s passive sensors.
Finally, we have more information on upcoming Matchmaking playlist updates. The Extraction Playlist will get added overtime, a score bug fix, improvements to the capture experience and some fine tuning on the maps. Several of the previous game modes that are currently on "hiatus" will be updated and fixed due to feedback from the community. Future plans include "several multi-mode playlists". These will include current and new modes in rotation. Fans of Grifball will also be pleased to know that 343 intend to keep Grifball as a permanent playlist, as well as next week's scheduled Team Doubles playlist. Unfortunately last week's Community Forge Test playlist will only be available until February 4th.
The most important update will be the addition of Competitive Skill Rank (CSR). The 343 War Games team has been working to integrate a player's rank into their Halo Waypoint
player profile. Your CSR will be unique to each playlist, but only the highest CSR will be promoted in the player profile. Everyone will start from afresh when CSR launches and it will use the familiar 1-50 scale. Some of the most competitive playlists will be reconfigured to accommodate the ranking system, whose target launch window is April. We'll bring you more details as we get them!
