In a new video from Codemasters, two 592bhp McLaren MP4-12Cs go head to head at the UK racing circuit, Brands Hatch. One is driven by McLaren test driver Mat Jackson and the other is driven by motoring journalist Chris Harris. "What's this?" you ask. "Has TA ditched the achievement-hunting gaming and become a racing site?" Well, not quite, because in this first of three videos, Chris uses the in-game expertise of Codemasters' upcoming racing sim sequel, GRID 2
, to get the edge on his professional competition in the real world.
If you're not so interested about the set-up and just want to check out footage of the game, skip to around the 1:45 mark to see how the sports cars and track are represented.
We also get a selection of screenshots of the cars going neck and neck.
As well as Brands Hatch, tracks such as Yas Marinas in Abu Dhabi and Austria’s Red Bull Ring will be simulated in the game. You'll also be able to take to the streets in Paris, Chicago, the California Coast and around treacherous Japanese mountains.
The game will also employ a new real physics based TrueFeel Handling System to strike the balance between accessibility and simulation, and online community portal, RaceNet, to track player's progress.GRID 2
is slated for a summer release.
