Xbox LIVE Silver Can Access Netflix This Weekend

Call it Xbox LIVE Silver, Xbox LIVE Free — whatever you call it, anyone with it probably knows how much is locked behind the wall of a paid Gold subscription. You don't get multiplayer access, you miss out on all the apps, you can't join party chats, the list goes on.

One of the most popular apps on any streaming device is Netflix, and normally you need a Gold subscription to load up your queue from your Xbox 360... but not this weekend. Xbox and Netflix are unlocking the app to anyone who has both a Netflix subscription and an Xbox account, no matter the type. You'll still have to be a paying member of Netflix, of course, but the video service wants you to enjoy their newest original series, House of Cards starring Kevin Spacey, on your Xbox and television. No matter your region, if you're a Netflix subscriber, you can access the app this weekend.

Netflix hasn't been shy about its intentions to start building a portfolio of original series and exclusives. Last year their mobster series Lilyhammer made its premiere and sometime this spring the highly-anticipated return of Arrested Development will be shown exclusively on the big red app. Netflix has been promoting House of Cards aggressively and this weekend's unlock is just a small part of that.

If you don't have a Netflix account but are interested in taking advantage of this promotion, don't worry, you can find free trials on the internet faster than you can say " Yo soy loco por los Cornballs!"
