Here's the timeline of the Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game
“Online Multiplayer+Wallace Pack" DLC:August 25th, 2010: Scott Pilgrim vs. The World
is released on Xbox LIVE Arcade for 800 MSP. The game receives much praise, but to many it felt like it is missing that one last piece of the puzzle without online multiplayer. It’s especially disappointing since local multiplayer is so fun.August 7th, 2012:
Nearly two years after the release of the game and well after the “Knives Chau Pack” DLC, the “Online Multiplayer+Wallace Pack” appears out of nowhere in an upcoming LIVE content blog post by Major Nelson. The release date is set for August 19th
. Many rejoice at the chance to finally play with friends around the world, but of course a bit of disappointment accompanies the news as the DLC is steeply priced at 400 MSP.August 19th, 2012
The sun rises, the sun sets. No Scott Pilgrim
DLC appears.August 20th, 2012:
Ubisoft issues statements
saying that the new DLC has been delayed into Fall and that the Major Nelson post was listed in error.November 2012
Playstation Trophies are uncovered for the DLC, which not only signals the near certainty of Xbox Achievements, but also the hope that the content is possibly right around the corner.December 2012
Rumors and speculation float around that the DLC has been cancelled, or at the very least delayed. Towards the end of the month Ubisoft finally confirms that it has indeed been pushed into 2013.January 2013
New Xbox achievements are spotted!
Should be real close now!January 29th, 2013:
Major Nelson lists the content in another upcoming LIVE content post. This time, the release is pegged for February 6th, 2013. These blog posts can’t be regarded as 100% accurate, as evidenced by the previous error pertaining to Scott Pilgrim
. But, they wouldn’t mess this up twice would they? As icing on the cake, Major Nelson reports the price as only being 160 MSP. Much easier price to swallow!January 31st, 2013:
A new trailer
emerges featuring Wallace Wells, and confirms the release date of February 6th. Later that same day though, it’s spotted on Major Nelson’s blog that the price has now been adjusted to 400 MSP. Going to use the D-word again...disappointing, especially since people were led to believe the price was going to be quite a bit less. Regardless though, online multiplayer, a new character, and new achievements are on the way!
That brings us to now. In an statement issued to Destructoid
, Ubisoft stated that “Online Multiplayer+Wallace Pack” was being delayed once again
. The reason for the delay is spelled out in the aforementioned statement:
The downloadable content for Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game has been delayed for fine-tuning and to incorporate feedback from the passionate Scott Pilgrim community. Ubisoft is addressing feedback from the community on the best ways to honor retro games in the Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game DLC in an accurate and respectful manner. Ubisoft, and the new team developing the DLC, respect creative properties and, of course, want to be sure to deliver a game experience that is a proper tribute to the Scott Pilgrim franchise.
There is no mention of how long the delay is for, although we can assume that fine-tuning and incorporating feedback can’t take that
long, right? We’ll be sure to report any new developments for the Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game
DLC. Personally, when it comes to this DLC I’m going to have a “I’ll believe it when I see it” mentality from here on out. Hopefully the content will be well worth the wait.
