Some of you may have heard of the new XBLA title from Focus Home Interactive, Obscure, as it is the re-imagining of the 2004 ObsCure, the gruesome survival horror title. Before we get too far ahead of ourselves, this new vision is not the survival horror title of last generation. Sorry for bursting anyones bubble.

The XBLA version still revolves around four characters searching for their lost friend, yet this time the game will be a 2.5d side-scrolling beat' em up. Focused primarily on co-operative gameplay, either locally or online, gamers will partake in an adventure that involves brutal beatdowns and combos.

Featuring members of the original development studio Hydravison who have moved to the current developer, Mighty Rocket Studios, Obscure has been in development for roughly a year, and will take gamers into the depths of a delapidated world filled with chaos, the undead and tons of blood.

Work on generating huge score attacks, utlising some RPG elements as you gain experience and level up your character, and discover hidden secrets that will help you unleash the power of new weapons. Take charge of your characters and at any moment you can re-visit levels to beat your scores and further progress your characters in whatever way you wish.

If you remember that as we previously noted that the game will not be in the same survival horror title from years past? That does not mean the spirit of the original game was not taken into consideration. Gamers will not be given huge amounts of supplies, health-kits, or ammunition, so playing smart and being aware will definitely be something you will need to focus on in order to be successful. The developers also wanted to note that for nostalgic fans, gamers will be able to visit Leafmore High School and embark on familiar elements from the original title.
