This report is for the period February 4th to February 10th 2013
This week mostly sees the same tired old numbers and titles of the last few weeks in Stats, with one big Necromorph-shaped exception. With this, the first major Retail release of the year, hopefully this begins a few weeks of more interesting numbers. My Ewok helpers, the Statistcles, have become so bored of the tables recently that they've taken to worshipping at this weird monument thing just to keep their minds focused. I think it's called the Marker or something? Well, that's what I'd call it. It is a big black marker pen after all. They've been sniffing it and using it to draw strange symbols over each other, but I'm sure it's all perfectly innocent.Games Started
21,397 TrueAchievements gamers started a total of 30,737 games between them (1,727 different games).
It's no surprise that Isaac and Co. storm into the top spot on Retail Games Started, blasting the limbs off the competition. Dead Space 3
grabs over 5,600 starters, more then ten times than the nearest title, Far Cry 3
, and over twice as much as the other nine titles on the list combined
. It's safe to say that it's a pretty good first week for the action-horror-coop-shooter, but looks particularly impressive simply because the the rest of the chart is made up of relatively low numbers (between 200 and 550) for the titles that have been hanging around for the last few months, as well as a couple of more recent releases, DmC: Devil May Cry
and Hitman HD Pack
In fact, the rest of the numbers are so low that Aliens: Colonial Marines
makes a surprise entry a week before it should, in tenth with 230 starters, probably thanks to those that managed to get a pre-release or early delivery copy.Top Retail Games Started
After dropping by 50 starters last week, The Walking Dead (Xbox 360)
does the same again on Arcade Games Started, dropping to 300, but still retaining the number one spot thanks to the only new release of the week, Special Forces: Team X
, only managing to pull in 133 starters and a mid-table position.
With so little in the way of new releases, sales have a big impact on the chart, with three titles, Hydrophobia
, Earthworm Jim HD
and Alan Wake's American Nightmare
, proving to be the most popular titles from the week's Deal of the Week
offers. Dragon's Lair
even manages to make it onto the table in tenth place with only 66 starters, after being on offer as part of the Kinect Central portion of the previous week's Deal of the Week
.Top Arcade Games Started
Square Enix's new release puzzler, KooZac (WP)
, blasts onto the top of the Windows Phone Games Started chart with almost 300 starters, more than twice the number of starters of the number two game, Shuffle Party (WP)
Since it lost its Nokia Exclusive
status last week, Mirror's Edge (WP)
continues to pull in around 50 starters and maintains its fifth place spot. Last week's new release, Skulls of the Shogun (WP)
, only manages a quarter of the number of starters this week with 50 and settles into sixth place.Top Windows Phone Games StartedGames Completed
7,085 TrueAchievements gamers completed a total of 9,976 games between them (1,255 different games).
The games on Retail Games Completed are the same ten titles as the past two weeks, just in a slightly different order. How exciting.Far Cry 3
continues to lead the pack with around 260 completions, only 30 less than last week and the recent DLCs for Borderlands 2 (Xbox 360)
and Call of Duty: Black Ops II
see them both pulling in between 130 and 190 completions.DmC: Devil May Cry
continues to prove a much easier completion than its predecessor, this week grabbing over 70 completions and an eighth place spot. Right now, over 430 people have completed the game. That's over twice as many who have completed https://www.trueachievements.com/DMC-HD-Collection/achi....htm
. Whilst it's nearly half the amount who have wrapped up Devil May Cry 4
, that game currently has six times more players than the newest incarnation, so the completion percentage is a lot lower. I'd expect in the next few weeks for the number of completions for DmC
to overtake Devil May Cry 4
and the completion percentage to hit more like 10%. It currently sits at 6.85% but has consistently grown week on week.
Speaking of predictions, with over 150 people having finished Dead Space 3
already as of this moment, I'd be surprised if it didn't show up on next week's table.Top Retail Games Completed
Arcade Games Completed is also very similar to last week, with The Walking Dead
again dropping by a significant amount of completions (100), but still retaining a clear lead at the top. The Cave
halves its completions, dropping from 87 to 42 and fourth place to sixth place. The rest of the table is made up of the typical easy completions titles, as well as a couple of recent easy sale titles in Mark of the Ninja
.Top Arcade Games Completed
Like Retails and Arcade, Windows Phone Completions are very similar to last week's. Shuffle Party
retains the top spot with 45 completions, despite dropping by over 15 from last week. Pac-Man Championship Edition DX (WP)
disappears again this week after making an alternate disappearance/reappearance for the last few weeks. Wonder if it'll be back next week. Despite making steady progress up the chart for the last few weeks, AlphaJax (WP)
slumps slightly this week, losing over ten completions to drop from fifth to eighth place.Top Windows Phone Games CompletedAchievements Won
49,579 TrueAchievements gamers won a total of 647,337 achievements online between them (48,381 different achievements).
Unsurprisingly, Dead Space 3
nabs all the slots on Retail Achievements Won. These achievements are a mix of early story ones, as well as ones for creating certain items in the game's new crafting mode.Top Retail Achievements WonThe Walking Dead
takes a clean sweep on Arcade Achievements Won for the umpteenth week in a row. I've been saying for the last few weeks that the fact that the majority of achievements came from the final or penultimate episode meant that surely most players were reaching the conclusion of the game by now, giving hope that other games would soon get a look in. However, this week sees the bottom two achievements coming from Episode 3 of 5, meaning there are still plenty of people slogging their way through earlier portions of the game. It's going to be sticking around for a while yet.Top Arcade Achievements Won
With a decent amount of starters and plenty of easy achievements, KooZac
manages a clean sweep on Windows Phone Achievements Won. It doesn't get enough to make it to the Completion table though as there are a couple of harder (time consuming) ones, including Collect 100000 Coins
, which has only been picked up by 17 gamers (4% of players).Top Windows Phone Achievements WonDead Space 3
gives Action-Adventure a big boost this week in Genre, allowing it to increase its edge over Shooter by a big margin. It adds almost 2 million to its numbers, pushing over the 7 million mark, whereas Shooter drops by over 500,000 to a little under 4 million.
All other genres see a slight dip in numbers but maintain the same positions, except for Platformer and Music & Rhythm swapping places at the bottom thanks to very close numbers.Total TrueAchievements won by Genre
That's all for this week's Stats. Tune in next week to see the battle of the Xenomorphs vs the Necromorphs as Aliens: Colonial Marines
tries to take down Dead Space
. Speaking of which, the Statisticles who have been sniffing the Marker pen seem to have grown extended, pointy arms. All the better to punch those numbers into the calculators!
