The Spartan Ops mode for Halo 4
is still going! If you missed the video for Episode Eight
, take a moment to watch it before you continue. The official description from 343 Industries is as follows:
ONI has ordered Doctor Halsey assassinated, and Sarah Palmer is slated to pull the trigger. Lasky, in an effort to save Halsey's life, sends Fireteam Majestic to stop Palmer. What Majestic discovers is the key to the future of the Halo Universe.
I would describe Episode 9 as "this is clearly going to tie into Halo 5
and I really like the direction 343 Industries is taking with this universe." Don't just take my word for it, watch the video yourself!
In addition to another batch of Spartan Ops, the regular Halo 4
matchmaking has received an update with a few fan-favorite modes making a glorious return. 4v4 Team Objective has been added to matchmaking, which includes Regicide, Oddball and King of the Hill. Complex Oddball was removed from matchmaking and another tweak sees instant respawns for the Regicide and King of the Hill modes also going the way of the dodo.
Team Doubles, a recent addition to matchmaking, has been fine-tuned with a few weapons removed from the gameplay mode. Rocket Launchers, sniper rifles, overshields and incineration cannons are no longer available options as starting weapons. Finding them as drops within a map is still possible. As with 4v4 Team Objective's respawn adjustment, Team Doubles also loses instant respawns.
Team Snipers and Team Shotty Snipers have been added to matchmaking this week. Team Snipers is limited to only the UNSC Sniper Rifle, no grenades, no motion sensor, only the UNSC Sniper Rifle. Team Shotty Snipers is similar, but also includes the shotgun as a secondary weapon and allows access to grenades. 343 Industries promises to keep the Team Snipers playlist in rotation for awhile, including new maps specifically for this mode alongside variations of existing maps, such as Haven. Additional Sniper game types will be released over the coming weeks as well.
If you haven't done so this week, fire up Halo 4
and take part in Spartan Ops Episode 9 or go for some "no-scope" kills in matchmaking.
