The long, arduous road of Splinter Cell: Conviction, finally hitting retail today has hit a last minute bump. Ubisoft is reporting that the USB drive included with the Limited Edition bundle of the game may be defective.
Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Conviction Xbox 360 Limited Edition version will now be priced at $69.99 MSRP in North America. While it's nice that they have lowered the price for the Limited Edition because of this, will you still buy it knowing that the USB might not work?
After receiving the final product it was discovered that a select amount of custom USB drives appear to be defective. To compensate for this matter, Ubisoft has set a new price point for the Limited Edition version of the game.
Any consumers that experience an issue with their USB drives should visit the Splinter Cell Conviction website (www.splintercell.com) on Thursday, April 15, 2010 for more information. Please note that the game itself has not been affected at all by this issue and it will be available in North America stores on Tuesday, April 13, 2010.
UPDATE 4/15: Ubisoft has provided a site for anyone with a defective USB so that they can download the special edition content:
