While getting this week's Achievement Preview Spotlight together, I couldn't help but recall a challenge that was proffered in the comments on our spotlight of Dead Space 3
. During the introduction of the story, I made the off-hand comment that we would be having quality releases every week from the beginning of February through April. Community member, IL1971
, didn't seem to agree and said
Quality every week until april?? March 12 - Sniper:Ghost Warrior 2 anyone?? Thought not.
While neither right nor wrong, I saw this as a challenge. Can we put the spotlight on Sniper: Ghost Warrior 2
and give it the center stage it so craves this week?
To this I say, "YES."
Let's start with a cold, hard truth: many gamers probably don't have this title circled as a "Day-One" purchase. On a scale ranging from "fact" to "complete myth", I would say that the previous statement is probably shading closer to "NASA landed on the moon" than "the thing was filmed on a sound stage".
That being said, Sniper: Ghost Warrior 2
does have some very interesting achievements. Aside from the seven secret achievements (worth 155 G), there are some really well-named doozies. Let's take a look at some notable high points.
Like many Midwestern teenagers, I was/am a huge fan of classic Metallica, making the following achievement slap me in the face harder than the pyros during a live rendition of "One".
I'm not sure how much anger and misery you'll suffer unto this achievement, but attempting to beat most games on "Expert" difficulty can definitely cause the language of the mad to be screamed at the screen.
The next achievement (mainly its name) is submitted without comment.
...moving right along.
The irony drips dark and rich, like the finest South American blend, in the next achievement.
In this instance, the "friend" actually is little... unlike this guy's
You'll get bonus cool points for shouting, "STOP!" before popping the next achievement.
The final achievement could very well be the white whale of the game, but it gets some negative marks for the name.
I don't want to tell the staffers at City Interactive
how to do their jobs when it comes to naming their achievements, but the fact that this one isn't called, "I Ain't Got Time to Bleed"
is a travesty of Venturian proportions.
We'll bring this week's APS to a close with a serious look a the high value achievements for Sniper: Ghost Warrior 2
. Aside from "I Never Bleed", "U Can't Touch This", and "Harvester Of Sorrow", the biggest pops look to be centered on "The Sniper Elite"
(Kill 100 opponents in multiplayer), "Everything But The Kitchen Sink"
(In one multiplayer round kill an opponent with a sniper rifle, sidearm and melee attack), and "Blood And Tears"
(Take 50 headshots in multiplayer).
All in all, it looks as if completing Sniper: Ghost Warrior 2
will take a good bit of MP grinding, so buyer beware if you're a completionist looking for quick and easy gamerscore.Sniper: Ghost Warrior 2
is set for a March 12th release in North America, and a March 15th release for the rest of the world.
Stay tuned next week, when the Achievement Preview Spotlight turns its gaze to the highly-anticipated The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel: The Game
