Lost Planet 3 Release Date & Pre Order Details

By Ashley Woodcock, 3 years ago
Just when we thought the tough world of Lost Planet had indeed been, well... lost for good, Capcom go ahead and release a barrage of new content for the third instalment in the series, Lost Planet 3, with the game's box art, character art, screens, a new trailer, pre-order details for residents of North America, and a confirmed release date!

The last time anything was revealed for Lost Planet 3 was way back at the beginning of October last year where we saw the game's main protaganist, Jim Payton, climbing through a mountain on his way to fix a communications station that was not working. For the first time in the Lost Planet series, gamers will actually be able to put a name to their character's face rather than just calling their character a member of whichever faction for which they happened to be playing, like in Lost Planet 2 for example. With that said, it's only right that fans can expect to see Jim himself donning a chilly, frozen beard on the box art of the upcoming game. In the background, you can see one of the many VS's Jim will be able to pilot.

We covered the details on the story behind Jim with the original announcement of the game. We know that Jim will be on a mission to make as many credits as he can, to hopefully and eventually make his way home and return to his family. Unfortunately, 'work' for Jim is far from your soft and gentle nine to five job in a warm cosy office; the risks and dangers of searching and locating Thermal Energy in order to keep the E.D.N. III population alive will be constantly life-ending!

In this new trailer, Jim's story takes a heavy twist. During one of his outings, Jim and his VS come under attack from the swarming Akrid and, during this attack, Jim's Utility Rig falls through the ice and plummets down an icy fissure leaving Jim injured and unconscious. What happens next? I'll let the video answer that question:

After Jim (and the readers of TA) discover what happened after this fall, we can now reveal the artwork. The first piece is of Mr Payton himself, looking a lot better than he did after waking up to the new crowd in the video, and the second piece is of the newly discovered Snow Pirates' member, Mira.

Lastly, we have the screens showcasing the horror-filled visuals to come on the cold planet of E.D.N. III. Jim does battle on foot and also from within his Utility Rig against the creepy Akrid that come in many different shapes and sizes. We also see the Snow Pirates' leader himself, So'ichi the father of Mira, as Jim discovered there were many more humans inhabiting this frozen planet other than just the NEVEC.
