Try as I might, I couldn't find the achievement list for next week's highly-anticipated release, The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel: The Game
, so the Achievement Preview Spotlight is going to look at the second-most
highly-anticipated release, Gears of War: Judgment
Straight talk time, gamers. After Epic's seriously (sic) combative relationship with achievement hunters, everyone wants to know what kind of commitment Judgment
is going to require.
Bad News: There is a "Seriously" achievement.
Good News: It doesn't look as arduous as Seriously's 1.0-3.0.
Bad News: There's a new "Seriously" for you to love-hate.
With that out of the way, I'm happy to report that the entire achievement list is viewable and contains no secrets, so if you're on the fence about purchasing and the achievements are the make-or-break factor for you, you can peruse to your heart's content.
Before we get into the achievements that are going to soak up hours/days/weeks/months of time, let's take a quick look at the ones that are expected. Throughout the game, you're going to find your plot-progression achievements, achievements for beating the game on each difficulty from "Casual" through "Insane", collecting COG Tags, earning medals/ribbons, and rolling through the game in Co-Op. For Gears
vets, all of those should be expected. Slightly less expected are a few of the following highlights.
The star system is a means for scoring performance during the campaign. After each level, gamers will be rewarded with up to three stars. These stars are needed to unlock the Aftermath Campaign (more on this in a minute). There are achievements tied to gaining stars on all difficulty levels.
Ah, the "Aftermath". As we covered last week
, the "Aftermath" campaign follows the Baird, Cole and Clayton Carmine's mission to track down reinforcements before the COG invade Azura in Gears of War 3
. Needless to say, you're going to want to play this campaign.
is also set to introduce "Declassified Missions" which show the true hardships that hit Kilo Squad. These missions up the difficulty in the campaign by requiring the use of specific weapons and increasing the aggression of enemies. Successfully completing Declassified Missions will earn you more stars, as well. Needless to say, these will be presenting a nice challenge.
Now that some of the fun new features are out of the way, let's take a look at some of the achievements that will be kicking you right in the controller.
Let's hope that Epic has a lot of events planned.
Who likes collectibles???
Remember when I said that Declassified Missions would be harder? Try insanely harder
. Also, this is your old "Seriously" achievement.
Speaking of "Seriously", let's see what achievement you're going to be grinding for the next few election seasons.
Nope... not this one.
You're getting so hot, you're on fire!
DING! We have a winner!
Ladies and Gentlemen, this is the achievement that you're going to be grinding with all of your friends into the wee hours of the morning, noon, and night. Don't say we didn't warn you.Gears of War: Judgment
is set for a March 19th release in North America and March 22nd release in Europe.
If there's an upcoming game that you'd like to see featured in the Achievement Preview Spotlight, be sure to let us know in the comments!
