While it was previously announced (in the Marketplace Schedule - April 20th to May 3rd
) that BioShock 2 (Xbox 360)
's upcoming Rapture Metro Map Pack was hitting the Marketplace on April 29th, 2K have announced that it'll no longer arrive on that date, and now has no confirmed release date.
Hold your horses there, frowny! That doesn't mean that the DLC isn't coming, just that we don't know exactly when yet. But on the bright side, we do know now a lot more about what to expect from this DLC pack.
It has already been reported that the map pack will be priced at 800 MSP, but I'm sure you're wondering what you actually get for that price. Well, lucky players, you'll be getting six all-new multiplayer maps all based on sections of the single-player campaign. Six maps for 800 MSP - are you taking notes Activision?
Snide comments aside, the DLC will also raise the multiplayer rank cap up to 50 as well as a new "Rebirth" feature, that'll let you revert back to Rank 1 once you hit the top rank, if you're crazy like that. For those of you that do choose to go through with that ridiculous choice will be rewarded though (understandably!) with firstly a special mask and new items and - far more importantly - an achievement.
Yes, that's right, the DLC will contain three achievements to reward your extended multiplayer playtime. While the gamerscore value of these achievements are yet to be announced, the achievement names and descriptions have already been revealed, which can be summed up thusly: play a non-private match on each map to earn one achievement, and win a game on each for the second. Hit rank 50 and use the "rebirth" feature and you'll unlock the third. Simple enough!
Also included in the DLC is a brand new melée-only online mode, entitled "Kill 'Em Kindly." One of the game's producers Allen Goedde has said that this mode will be free for everyone, not just those who purchase the DLC.
If you're not a fan of the multiplayer, fret not. It has been confirmed that the game will see "downloadable single player extensions" in the coming months, providing "new insight into the world of Rapture. These packages will include more narrative, new tools and new challenges that extend the lore and fiction of the failed Utopia under the sea."
So that covers the whole spectrum for you BioShock 2 (Xbox 360)
