Last year, Telltale Games enjoyed unprecedented success with its role-playing, point-and-click adventure, The Walking Dead
, based on the comics of the same name. I'm sure you'll agree that it always makes sense when developers stick to a winning formula; however, there's always the risk that things could quite easily become stale. Today, Telltale Games has announced a new game which certainly appears to adhere to the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" philosophy. The developer will keep faith with the same game style, but bring with it a new storyline in The Wolf Among Us
.The Wolf Among Us
will centre around Bigby Wolf, who is often referred to as The Big Bad Wolf, in the events preceding the story that took place in Bill Willingham's acclaimed FABLES
comic series. As New York City's newest sheriff, Bigby Wolf is tasked with keeping everyone on the straight and narrow, including the likes of The Three Little Pigs and Mr Toad, as well as others from the world of myth and folklore.
Dan Connors, CEO and Co-Founder of Telltale Games, gave the following insight into how the success of The Walking Dead
has influenced the developer's approach to The Wolf Among Us
Developing ‘The Wolf Among Us’ based on the ‘FABLES’ universe has allowed our studio to build upon all of the hallmarks of what makes our episodic series so engaging for players... Through an evolution of our approach to choice and consequence, we can further explore the complexity of each and every iconic character in a universe rich with untold history from the darkest sides of the storybooks
The above statement appears to suggest that The Wolf Among Us
will also be released on an episode-by-episode basis, but this has not been completely confirmed. Nonetheless, the latest title is slated to arrive this summer through "digital distribution outlets".
