In this trying economy, video game companies are often left making safe decisions, such as releasing new titles from established IPs or revisiting old licenses and re-releasing classic games of yesteryear.
One publisher who has met with a fair amount of success due to re-releases is SEGA. Whether people downloaded the games just for the trip down memory lane, as was mostly the case with games like Crazy Taxi
or Sonic Adventure
, or simply for the easy gamerscore, as was the case with the recent fighting games that were released, people have certainly not hesitated to spend their MSP when SEGA games hit the Marketplace.
Today, SEGA has released a teaser hinting at a new game they'll be releasing this summer. We'll give you a moment to guess at what it is before revealing our assumption below the trailer:
Gathered your thoughts yet? Judging from the imagery in the trailer, and the copyright notice for Disney, it seems very likely that the game we're getting is a remake of the classic Castle of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse
. Of course, nothing is confirmed at this point, but if it is Castle of Illusion
, the appearance of that game along with Capcom's DuckTales Remastered
might be enough to sate your nostalgia cravings this summer.
Other than a Summer 2013 launch window and the fact that the game will be released on XBLA, we have no further details at this time. As soon as more details become available, we'll be sure to share them with you!
