Free Xbox Live Weekend In Specific Regions

By Andrew Ogley, 5 years ago
In March we were able to bring you details of a Free Xbox Live Gold Weekend which was very region specific, namely being the UK only. Happily for some of those Silver Members outside of the UK, Xbox Live's Major Nelson has announced via his website that there will be a similar event running this weekend, for a few selected regions.

The event will run from Friday April 19th, beginning at 10:00 am ET / 07:00 am PT, and will continue through to 1:00 pm ET / 10:00 am PT on Monday, April 22nd. During the weekend, Microsoft will open Xbox LIVE Gold in the US, Latin America, Japan, and Canada regions giving Silver Members access to online multiplayer, Video Kinect, and entertainment apps.

Additionally, during the weekend there are also a number of bonuses available for different titles including double XP events, and a Golden Key code for Borderlands 2. The highlights listed by Major Nelson are shown below:

- Xbox Tournaments with Virgin Gaming – try out a free-to-enter tournament with “EA SPORTS™ FIFA 13,” “NBA 2K13,” “EA SPORTS™ Madden NFL 13” and “EA SPORTS™ NHL® 13.”

- “Call of Duty Black Ops II” – with weapons double XP for a limited time.

- “Borderlands 2” – Try out this special Golden Key Code: KTW3T-ZXXS5-JBSJF-5FJT3-6TB9X
To redeem, at the Borderlands 2 Main Menu, select Extras, then SHiFT Code. Hurry though, this will only be available throughout the Xbox Live Gold Unlock weekend. See Gearbox for assistance.

- “Assassin’s Creed 3” and “Far Cry 3” – with double XP for a limited time
It's unlikely that the double XP events and the key code are region specific but we can't be certain so it could be wise to check the exact event details in your own particular region by visiting your local version of the Xbox LIVE website.
