Almost a year ago, we brought you the news
that highly regarded games designer, Shinji Mikami, was working on a new title that was designed to "push the limits of fear and exhilaration". As creator of the Resident Evil
and Dino Crisis
series, Mikami knows a thing or two about survival horror and this new game, codenamed Project Zwei
, promised to be the ultimate in survival horror experiences. After a long wait with no further news, publishers Bethesda have now officially unveiled the game and its new title, The Evil Within
The game follows Sebastian, a detective who encounters a mysterious, powerful force at the scene of a horrific mass killing. This force sends Sebastian into a world full of monsters, madness and, of course, death. In true survival horror fashion, Sebastian's resources will be limited and he will have to use cunning and wits to survive horrifying creatures and cruel traps. Described as a "supernova of horror", the game will feature nerve-shredding tension and mind-bending visuals as the world warps around Sebastian, with the environments themselves distorting and transforming according to the players actions.
Developed by Mikami's own studio, Tango Gameworks, The Evil Within
is due out in 2014 on Xbox 360 and next generation consoles. Keep a bloody eye on TA as more info for the game emerges following this announcement.
