Madden 25 Cover Star Has Been Decided

By Mark Delaney, 4 years ago
For the third straight year, EA Sports took to fan polling to decide which NFL star would grace the cover of Madden NFL. Since this is the 25th anniversary of the famed series, the pool of potential cover stars was expanded to 64 athletes, half of which were retired legends.

This created an interesting finale. With Adrian Peterson representing the modern day superstars and Barry Sanders standing in for the legends, we had a matchup of two of the best runningbacks of all-time. Only one could be crowned the cover star though, and as you've surely already peeked ahead to see below, the winner is...

Barry Sanders!

Sanders joins Peyton Hillis and Calvin Johnson as the third player to be voted in by fans and he is also the second (and second consecutive) Detroit Lions player to land the cover gig. That makes the Lions just the second team to have two players on the cover joining the Titans' Eddie George (2001) and Vince Young (2008).

With the cover finalized and out of the way, NFL fans can now look ahead to hear what this year's Madden is adding to the game, which we'll surely hear more about in the coming months. Madden NFL 25 tackles retail stores on August 27th.
