This actually arrived a bit later in the day yesterday so it was missed but we’re here to report today that a new version of the original Angry Birds
has arrived on Windows Phone 8, and best of all it’s free for two weeks.Angry Birds (WP)
originally came out for Windows Phone 7 back in June 2011
. It later received an update to include some more levels to gain some ground on the iOS and Android counterparts. After that though, there were no further updates. It was compatible with the new WP8 however.
Rovio delivered yesterday though, with the arrival of a new port of Angry Birds
. This port has all eight episodes and the bonus episode as well, whereas the previous item on the marketplace only went up to five. This also means a stackable achievement list as well on top of the original Windows Phone 7 release.
The best bit of news, is that now until May 15th, the new Angry Birds
version is free on Windows Phone 8.Angry Birds Classic (WP)
– $0.99/£0.79 FREE until May 15th
Use the unique powers of the Angry Birds to destroy the greedy pigs' defenses!
The survival of the Angry Birds is at stake. Dish out revenge on the greedy pigs who stole their eggs. Use the unique powers of each bird to destroy the pigs’ defenses. Angry Birds features challenging, physics based demolition gameplay with hours and hours of replay value. Each of the over 300 levels require logic, skill, and force to solve.
To further add to the confusion, the original Xbox enabled WP7 release Angry Birds (WP)
has been pulled from the marketplace, and replaced with a non-LIVE version exclusively for Windows Phone 7 users. If you’d like, you can download this here
, and it’s also free for two weeks time. This means if you already own the original download on either
Windows Phone OS, it’ll be forever lost if you do a hard reset or abandon your phone for a new one.
