have made a big announcement via the EA Blogosphere regarding the online multiplayer element of Battlefield: Bad Company 2
and the upcoming inclusion of a cooperative element.
The new game mode dubbed 'Onslaught' allows a gamer to team up with up to three other players across four reworked multiplayer maps (Valparaiso, Atacama Desert, Isla Inocentes, and Nelson Bay) to achieve a variety of goals. The mission objectives will be different across each of the maps with each having it's own characteristics and requiring a unique team based approach in order to beat down the AI and emerge victorious. EA
gave the following details:
Vehicle warfare comes to the forefront in Atacama Desert while Nelson Bay focuses squarely on infantry assault.
Further to being able to team up with your chums for the first time, you'll also be able to see how your crack squad of elite soldiers sizes up against the rest of the world via dedicated Onslaught leaderboards.
Patrick Bach has indicated the new game mode will be suitable for both newcomers to the battlefield as well as the 'elite' gamers:
We want to consistently support the over 4 million fans playing the game with new ways to get into multiplayer and also challenge the elite players with new experiences to improve their performance online. Effective squad play is the key to success in Battlefield: Bad Company 2 multiplayer and this new mode will provide players with a dedicated environment to test their team skills and rank against the competition
Unfortunately for those of you desperate for a launch date, there's nothing official yet with EA closing their statement simply by saying that, Onslaught will "be available on Xbox Live and on the PlayStation Network."
