Disney have revealed today that, alongside the collectible characters for their upcoming title, Disney Infinity
, there will be additional collectible discs that can be used to personalise and customise the game even further.
The so-called Power Discs are collectible game pieces that can be used to add new props, attributes, and even new worlds to both the toy box and play set modes in the game. The discs come in two forms, circular and hexagonal, with the circular discs boosting a character's attributes and the hexagonal discs adding new props, vehicles, and themes.
Just as with the character models, the discs are activated simply by placing them on the Infinity base. The discs can even be stacked with the game allowing two circular discs or three hexagonal discs to be used at one time thus combining power boosts or props. Alongside these discs there will also be three rare lenticular discs that can be used to add special items. To demonstrate how this all works together in the game, Disney have released a trailer showing off the new discs.
The first wave of the power discs will launch simultaneously with the Disney Infinity
game, meaning players can immediately start building up their collection from the set of 20 that will be available. However, herein lies the catch; the discs will be sold in blind packs of two meaning players will not know what they are buying until the pack is opened. The packs will cost $4.99 in North America, with other regional pricing still to be announced.
