Update: Though it wasn't noted in the patch notes, the patch appears to also fix the game's one unobtainable achievement, meaning the game is now completable. Completionists and fans of the series, rejoice!

Original Story

Dynasty Warriors 8 has been out a couple weeks now, and fans of the hack n' slash title seem to be really enjoying it given the game's 4.7/5 ranking here on TA.

Unfortunately, the game came out just a little broken, with issues affecting not only online play, but save data. Thankfully, Koei has listened to those issues and has developed a patch to address them. The full patch notes are as follows:

(1) Low frame-rates in a number of battles
For example: Yellow Turban Rebellion (Shu), Battle of Chibi (Wu), Battle of Liang Province (Wu), Battle of Wan Castle (Wei), Battle of Tong Gate (Wei) and etc.

All instances have been addressed so that the frame rates are at normal levels wherever possible. However, in instances such as ambushes, fire attacks or cavalry rushes, where large numbers of soldiers appear on screen at once, there are still some cases in which the frame rate is lower than it would optimally be.

(2) When accepting an invitation to online play, save data is lost.
When Player B accepts an invitation from Player A to play online, Player B’s save data is lost.

This issue has been addressed so that the save data is not lost.

(3) Repeating the process “Recruit” -> “Sign out” -> “Return to title screen” around 10 times renders online play inaccessible.
? Enter online play, select any stage and select “Recruit”.
? When the circle is displayed in the center of the screen, press the Xbox Guide button to sign out, and return to the title screen.
? Sign in using any profile, and begin a game.
? Repeat steps ? to ? around 10 times. Eventually, an error message will appear when you attempt to recruit other players, and you will be unable to proceed.

This issue has been addressed so that online play remains accessible.
Unfortunately, the patch does not appear to address the game's one unobtainable achievement, but if we get any further word on that getting a fix, we'll be sure to let you know!

The ver. 1.3 patch is available now, so, as usual, you will be prompted to download it the next time you fire up Dynasty Warriors 8.
