A new feature has been detailed for EA's
upcoming NHL 14
. In the new Live the Life mode, you will shape your legacy on and off the ice.
From interactions with teammates outside of the rink, to choosing words wisely in media interviews, to their on-ice performance, gamers will be prompted to make decisions that affect their pro’s ratings and likeablity with fans, teammates, family and management. As players make the right choices, their pros will be rewarded with higher ratings and endorsement offers that promise extra cash and unprecedented exposure, such as magazine covers, billboards and the esteemed cover athlete recognition on the EA SPORTS NHL videogame. Now with NHL 14, players don’t just get to skate like the pros, they get to live like one too.
As seen in the screenshots, players' responses to interviews and decisions made in reaction to off-ice events affect likability at many different levels; every decision made affects likability with fans, fellow players, management, even your family. The more likable you are, the better your chances of endorsements, and the higher up the ranks you go, the more you can get away with (when talking to a reporter, for example), so on- and off-ice happenings greatly affect each other.
If you're a hockey fan, you'll get your chance to live the life when NHL 14
releases September 10th in North America and September 13th worldwide.
