We can't often bring news concerning DLC for a game that was released way back in 2006, but back in March we were able to report on the latest expansion
to Final Fantasy XI
and today we can reveal some additional news concerning some of the previous DLC for the title.
Square Enix have announced that they will be celebrating 11 years of the MMORPG title that initially arrived on the PS2 back in 2002 and eventually on Xbox 360. To mark the big occasion, Square will be making three of the major battle arena add-ons, the “Vision of Abyssea”, “Scars of Abyssea” and “Heroes of Abyssea”, available for free to those users who have not yet tried the content. However, there are a couple of caveats: players will be required to have already registered and installed the “Rise of the Zilart” and “Wings of the Goddess” expansion packs, as well as reached level 30 in at least one job.
To entice and encourage players further, Square have also put together a starter pack with a number of in-game goodies to help those players making their way for the first time in the realm of Abyssea, the details of which are listed below:
Eleven of the most popular Atma – these enhancements allow users to strengthen their characters in a variety of ways while they journey within Abyssea
One Lunar Abyssite – essential for equipping and using atma. And for seasoned veterans that already possess the lunar abyssite, 100,000 cruor is offered as an alternative.
100,000 Cruor - Cruor is a red, naturally-occurring mineral found in Abyssea, as well as the standard currency of the realm. It can be exchanged for maps and other sundries, warp point activation, and special boons.
Increase to Initial Traverser Stone Stocks – Magic Traverser stones enable travel within Abyssea, and each stone enables its bearer to stay within the world for thirty minutes.
The gifts will be available in the campaign from August 8th until October 11th, 2013.
