Latest Call of Duty: Ghosts News from Gamescom

It's the start of Gamescom, and the news is flying in thick and fast!

First we have a brand new behind-the-scenes video "documentary" which shows off the new features in Activision and Infinity Ward's upcoming Call of Duty: Ghosts. It was supposedly filmed while preparations were being made for the Multiplayer Reveal which took place only a few days ago, and contains commentary from the developers summarising all the new game modes, kill-streaks and cool new player abilities on offer in the latest entry to the Call of Duty series:

Speaking at Gamescom in Germany, Infinity Ward Executive Producer Mark Rubin confirmed that the Xbox One version of the game will make use of Xbox Live Cloud hosting to provide dedicated servers, which hopefully means faster online matchmaking and an overall better gaming experience. In addition, Xbox gamers can take solace in the fact that all downloadable content will be coming to them first before it appears on other consoles.

Secondly, the developers have unleashed some details on a new multiplayer game mode. We all know about the "Cranked" mode, but now we introduce "Blitz": In this game mode players must try to get themselves to the enemy base. Sounds simple, right? Well, if you manage to travel all the way to the special zone in the enemy team's base without being killed, you score a point. However, you are then zapped back to the home base, ready to make another run. The catch is that you must also stop the enemies from doing the same thing at your own base. Interesting!

Finally, those in European markets should keep an eye out for further news on a newly announced premium Xbox One package, which includes the new console, a copy of Call of Duty: Ghosts, and "special bonus content". Unfortunately, we don't yet know what this content is, but it sounds like a sweet deal.

Call of Duty: Ghosts will be sneaking onto retailer shelves on November 5th for the Xbox 360 and later this year for the Xbox One.
