As it usually is with upcoming releases these days, the developer loves to tease
us with snippets from its games until we're blue in the face with excitement. Dark Souls II
is no exception. We've seen a number of screenshots, trailers, and interviews in previous coverage, but today, Namco Bandai Games have broken free from their chains and poured new information all over the web.
To start with, two special editions have been announced. Firstly, the Collector's Edition:
Avid videogame collectors and aficionados will want to immediately reserve their copy of the DARK SOULS II Collector’s Edition. The DARK SOULS II Collector’s Edition will feature a premium quality Warrior Knight figurine measuring in at 12 inches / 30 cm in height and weighing in at nearly 16 ounces / 450 grams. Fans will also be able to thumb through an exclusive hardbound art-book filled with never-before-seen images created by the talented artists at game developer FromSoftware. True adventure fans are sure to enjoy the sizable full-colour fabric map of the DARK SOULS II game world that can only be had within the Collector’s Edition. Topping off this extensive package is the metal game case from the DARK SOULS II Black Armour Edition which will contain both the game disc and the official game soundtrack composed by famed Japanese composer Motoi Sakuraba.
Mmmmm, tasty! Now, if like me, you're more of a 'pre-order just the standard game' kind of guy, then even you will get a special edition of the game. Although not as largely packed with goodies as the Collector's Edition, the Black Armour Edition is a very nice pre-order bonus indeed.
Rewards also await DARK SOULS II fans that simply pre-order the game as they will automatically receive the DARK SOULS II Black Armour Edition when the game launches; while supplies last. The Black Armour Edition features a metal case that contains both the game disc and the official game soundtrack that is sure to stir emotions and set players’ mood for battle.
If that isn't a good enough incentive to pre-order the game, then I don't know what is! A new helping of screenshots have also come to the surface, and by the looks of those glowing red, white, and blue people, it seems like summoning and invading will be making a glorious return!
Finally, a new trailer has been revealed as well so that we can see yet even more violence, gruesome monsters, and other death related aspects in action.
Dark Souls II
has now got an official release date of March 11th, 2014 in North America, and March 14th, 2014 across Europe.
