This one's been hovering in and around the news for a while now, as more details slowly trickled forth. Initial news posts from http://www.trueachievements.com/Matt+Hull.htm
gave us the game trailer (Lara Croft And The Guardian Of Light Trailer
), whilst zigs00
padded it out with further game details and probable pricing details (More Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light Details
An Eidos employee has confirmed via the Tomb Raider forums, that the official release date for this interesting looking title has been set at August 18th
, and that it will indeed cost 1200 MSP
, as Zigs pointed out in his previous article.
Gameplay is skewed towards a focus on co-op this time around, with special attention being paid to the fast paced combat and puzzle solving element of the game. It's said we'll get up to six hours worth of play time out of the title, and we'll be able to jump into the shoes of Lara Croft herself, or a Mayan Warrior, Totec.
It's worth pointing out again that this isn't a traditional 3D Lara Croft game either, The Guardian of Light
will use a fixed isometric camera system. Whilst we're seeing this style more frequently now, it could reinvigorate the series, and the fact the story is occurring outside the main Tomb Raider
universe should allow the game greater scope and more freedom.
