Borderlands 2 Loot Hunt Offers Chance to Win Big

Since it released in 2012, Gearbox has done a phenomenal job at keeping players coming back for more of Borderlands 2. Whether it has been new DLC adventures, new playable characters, difficulty and level cap increases, or the sheer amount of Shift codes that are given away there has been plenty of incentive to keep Borderlands 2 in your 360's disc tray. However Gearbox is now stepping it up a notch higher in offering players a chance to win real-world cash and prizes.

Beginning this Friday, October 11th, Gearbox is kicking off the Borderlands 2 $100K Loot Hunt Sweepstakes, which will give players the chance to win in-game and real-world prizes amounting to $100,000. Once the Loot Hunt begins players will be greeted with new Community Goals and Daily Targets. Community Goals involve killing a specific enemy with that day's unique gun; if the community as a whole cumulatively kills enough of these enemies for a daily goal then everyone unlocks a Community Reward at the end of the week. The Daily Targets serve as entries into the major prizes. For these the player is tasked with taking down whatever the Daily Target is, and for those diligent players who take the target down every day, a total of 28 entries can be obtained.

So while you're taking this all in, allow Claptrap to explain it again to you in his own special way:

The cash and prizes list is quite a pretty sight in itself. The lucky grand prize winner will win $50,000, while four other players will win different denominations adding up to another $50,000. In addition, weekly sponsored prizes will also be up for grabs including:

- PlayStation Vitas with copies of Borderlands 2
- Borderlands 2 Turtle Beach headsets
- Nvidia Shield PC Streaming set-up with a Tiki PC by Falcon Northwest
- Nvidia GeForce GTX 660 Ti GFX cards
- Brady Games Borderlands 2 Game of the Year Edition Strategy Guides
- A lifetime supply of all 2K games on Steam - past, present, and future

However for non-U.S. gamers there is a bit of bad news. Only U.S. gamers are eligible to win the cash and sponsored prizes. However, all players worldwide are still able to take place in the Loot Hunt, meaning taking place in the community events and reaping all of the in-game rewards.

Once again, remember the Loot Hunt begins this Friday, October 11th so be sure to get yourself registered for the event here!
