It seems like Capcom has gone back to the old days of upgrading their most recent Street Fighter
effort as opposed to giving new entries new numbers. First, we had Street Fighter IV
. Then, it was upgraded and repackaged as Super Street Fighter IV
. Most recently, Capcom revealed there would be a further update and that this latest edition would be dubbed Ultra Street Fighter IV
. They also revealed four new characters who would be joining the roster: Poison, Hugo, Elena, and Rolento. A fifth character was also promised, but has not yet been revealed.
Over at the Capcom Unity Blog
, Tomoaki Ayano has taken some time to detail some of the moves for the four new competitors of whom we know.Rolento
Rolento carries a knife called "Stinger" that, when used correctly, will give you control over action in the air and on the ground. Holding in the appropriate button will change the path of the blade, making things harder to predict for your opponents. There's recovery time attached to using the knife, so be mindful of that when you choose to use it.Hugo
Hugo's "Giant Palm Breaker" looks like it may be the spam move of choice, as it will effectively back your opponents into corners, forcing them to counter smartly to take control. On the negative side, there's a big wind up before using the move, which will lead you vulnerable to attacks.Poison
Poison takes advantage of a projectile move called the “Aeolus Edge.” Like the "stinger", the path of Poison's projectile will change based on how long the appropriate action button is held. The move also provides another way to keep opponents trapped in a corner, and can be delayed to serve as an anti-air attack.Elena
Finally, there's Elena's move, the "Rhino Horn." Elena typically is best used as a mid-range attacker, but this move can help her move in close for damage. Be careful, however, as executing this move too close to your opponent will leave you open to attack during its fairly lengthy recovery time.
"Ultra Street Fighter IV" is due out sometime in early 2014.
