Xbox One Twitch Details Emerge

By Jonathan Barnes, 3 years ago
Do you like watching other people play games as much (or more) than you enjoy playing them yourself? If so, you'll definitely be interested in the details Microsoft has released about Twitch integration on the Xbox One. Let's dive in, shall we?

First and foremost, you'll need Xbox LIVE Gold to watch Twitch. No surprise there.

Like most apps you can "snap" Twitch, allowing you to watch someone game while also gaming yourself.

Now I know what you're thinking. You're thinking:

That's all fine and good, obj, but WHAT ABOUT THE CHEEVOS YOU TEASED IN THE STRAPLINE!?
Easy there, point-hungry gamer. I was just getting to the stuff you care about. At launch there will be ten achievements for the Twitch app. Here is the breakdown of the achievements you'll be able to unlock just by watching other people game.

* Watch through the night to earn the Night Owl achievement

* Join 100,000 viewers simultaneously watching a broadcast on Twitch to earn the Standing Room Only achievement

* Watch one hour of live video on Twitch to become a Newcomer

* Watch 10 hours of live video on Twitch for Competitive

* Watch 100 hours of live video on Twitch for Best Viewer

* Watch one hour of live video on Twitch channels that have less than 10 viewers to be the Hipster

* Watch 10 hours of live video on Twitch channels that have less than 10 viewers and become the Talent Scout

* Max Bandwidth is received by watching a single channel on Twitch for more than eight hours consecutively

* Around The Clock is exactly that, just watch at least one minute of live video on Twitch in each hour of a full day

* Prime Time, simply: watch a total of 10 hours of live video on Twitch between peak viewing hours from 7:30 to 11:30 p.m., on a weekday
Are you one of those people who hates reading, but still wants all of the news I just painstakingly wrote? Fortunately there's a video for that.

Now for the bad news. At launch you will NOT be able to stream your own gameplay over Twitch, but Microsoft is aiming for that feature to be implemented in the first part of 2014.

The Xbox One will be dropping on Friday. GET EXCITED!
