A Look at Hulu Plus in the Next Gen

By Marc Caccamise, 3 years ago
If you were to take a list of apps and ask people which ones that they absolutely want to have, I'd make a safe bet and say Hulu Plus would get its fair share of mentions. The popular service allows for users to watch a wide array of TV shows and movies, making it a perfect source to binge watch full seasons. On Xbox One, a brand-new version of the app will provide a seamless experience that is brought together with One's new capabilities.

Hulu Plus will utilize many of the Xbox One features that we've mentioned lately in our discussion of some of the other incoming apps. The Snap functionality will allow you to watch and play games at the same time, the app can be pinned to your Home screen for easier access, and you can add Hulu Plus as an App Channel in OneGuide. With Hulu Plus placed into OneGuide you'll be able to view it as categories such as Popular Shows, Popular Episodes, Popular Movies, and Trending Now. Achievements will also be available to unlock by performing different actions, like watching an entire season of a show, for example.

Additionally, the new Hulu Plus app will feature the following:

- Our signature tray-style navigation allows you to quickly scroll through recommendations, popular shows and movies, top 100 clips and more.

- Richer artwork and larger images.

- A simpler way to find your favorite shows and discover new content with our updated search experience.

- A new “Shows You Watch” feature that lets you jump straight to shows you regularly watch

- "New to the Hulu Kids section today, we’re bringing you more kids programming, including classics like “Sesame Street,” “Thomas and Friends” and "Strawberry Shortcake". For more info and titles, visit Hundreds of New Titles Now on Hulu Kids."
Take a look at the app in action. The video is only available for viewing in the United States, which is the only region to receive the app at launch.

If you would like to try out Hulu Plus for yourself, you can sign up for a free one-week trial directly from the app on your Xbox One, or you can go here. The Xbox One launches in mere hours now.
