By Cee Jay, 3 years ago
Hey TA’ers,

We know you love numbers and what better way to end our http://www.trueachievements.com/gameofthegeneration.htm Awards than a stats fest. Let’s get straight down to business; a grand total of 929 different games received 32601 votes from 3401 voters. 2010 was your favourite year, your favourite genre was Action-Adventure and your favourite sub-genre was First Person Shooter.

The Good

Bioshock was the clear winner with 7538 points from 1043 votes (the 7.23 average per vote was the second highest in the top 400), additionally, the 1242 point margin between first and second was the biggest between any 2 positions (887 points between 5th and 6th was next).

The top 10 accounted for 29.4% of all points, the top 25 took over half at 51.1%. Halo 3 received the most top votes with 259, whilst Bioshock was second with 250. In total the top 25 received 68.95% of all top picks.

Franchises

Franchises have had a massive impact in this generation and this was replicated in the poll with the top 10 franchises of the generation scoring 49.27% of all points. Only 299 points separated the top 3 franchises, but it was Halo that won the Franchise of the Generation. Whilst BioShock (Xbox 360) and Halo 3 dominated their respective franchise, the Mass Effect vote was split fairly evenly between the 3 games, this is why no Mass Effect game made the top 5 as voters tended to vote for just a single game in any franchise.

2) Bioshock - 10990 points, 1585 votes
