If you have exhausted the primary storyline in Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag
but are thirsting for more, then prepare for the continuation of Adéwalé's storyline, set some fifteen years from the conclusion of Black Flag
. While the team had an educated guess about what's in store for this DLC in the previous Achievement Preview Spotlight
, we are now able to deliver some solid details.
Adéwalé, who was born into slavery and later served as Edward Kenway's first mate on the Jackdaw, earned his freedom by the application of brute force and extreme violence. It seemed that it wasn't so easy to simply sail away from the West Indies forever though, as he is now driven to free the other slaves who continue to suffer in Port Au Prince, Haiti, as well as in Saint-Domingue, Jamaica, and Cuba. Through his trials, which span nine missions in-game, we will experience an Assassin who appears to have the "strength of Connor and the finesse of Ezio".
The game itself starts with Adéwalé, now a fully trained assassin, shipwrecked in Saint-Domingue without weaponry and completely alone. However, as the story progresses, Adéwalé will obtain access to his favorite machete, as well as being able to make short work of his enemies using the blunderbuss, hand cannon, and a prototypical version of today's shotgun that promises to "deliver a lethal blast in a broad cone capable of neutralizing multiple enemies".
As previously stated, Adéwalé is driven by the desire to free as many slaves as possible, and as such will receive new equipment and upgrades for accomplishing his mission. In addition, there will be new upgrades available for his ship, the Experto Crede. There are plenty of slave galleys roaming the open seas, so a fully kitted out ship will make Adéwalé's task much easier and will ensure that the slave economy is well and truly crippled.
"Freedom Cry" will be included as part of the ACIV Season Pass but will cost $9.99 standalone and is set to be released on December 17th.
